The Acceleration of Development in Papua Requires the Collaboration of Many Parties

77

The Government of Indonesia has recently been promoting the acceleration of development. Not only acceleration, but also the existence of equitable distribution of development, which all of this really requires collaboration from many parties to continue to oversee and supervise so that the development carried out can be far more optimal and on target.

It is undeniable that infrastructure is a very important aspect in determining how successful in accelerating national development, especially in the economic field, in order to be able to realize a far more advanced Indonesia in the future.

Not only that, but with optimal infrastructure development, it can also increase the distribution of income which of course can reduce poverty and also social inequality in the country.

For information, development in the infrastructure sector itself has a very broad scope, so it does not only concern infrastructure that is of a public works nature, such as the construction of roads, bridges, and the provision of clean water, but the development of true infrastructure also includes other infrastructure such as construction ports, electricity, airports and so on.

Therefore, because the notion of infrastructure development is quite broad, so of course the efforts to accelerate development that are being promoted by the Indonesian Government will absolutely not be implemented optimally if they are not assisted or balanced with collaboration and cooperation with many other parties. In other words, the implementation of infrastructure development will be far more effective if it is indeed carried out in an integrated manner.

Meanwhile, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia itself is still trying to achieve equitable development throughout the country. This distribution of development is a form of President Jokowi ‘s real commitment so that development does not only occur in one region or island, as has happened so far, namely as if development only occurred in Java .

Then , President Jokowi was determined to carry out all development evenly to reach all corners of the country, even to the Land of Papua. Therefore, he stressed that the current development paradigm being implemented by the Government of Indonesia is Indonesia – centric .

Regarding this matter, Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said cooperation between related parties in the process of accelerating the development of Papua was urgently needed. This can help realize the accelerated development of the welfare of Papua, namely the Indigenous Papuan people (OAP). According to him, various policies cannot only involve traditional elders or office holders.

The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia then admitted that he really believed that the acceleration of development in the Land of Papua would indeed be realized soon. The realization of this development can be seen if all parties, starting from traditional leaders and also all local elements champion Indigenous Papuans (OAP) are able and ready to continue to help each other and participate actively for development in Cenderawasih Earth.

Furthermore, KH. Ma’ruf Amin then also detailed a number of policies to encourage development in Papua. Namely Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning amendments to the Special Autonomy Law for Papua Province which assigns several main matters, such as the transfer of authority from the province to the regency/city, the addition of the transfer of special autonomy funds for Papua to 2.25% of the National General Allocation Fund , and also provisions for members of the DPRP/DPRK who are appointed without going through the General Election mechanism with a quota of 25%.

Of course, even the Government of the Republic of Indonesia itself continues to work to cooperate with many other parties so that they can participate in helping the development of the Land of Papua. the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia has even coordinated with other ministries and institutions as well as the Papuan Communion of Churches (PGGP) in Papua and West Papua which discusses accelerating the development of people’s welfare.

According to him, collaboration is indeed a very important thing to continue to do , not even just involving government institutions , but also involving religious and other social institutions and organizations.

In addition, the government is committed to providing affirmative and regulatory policies by promoting the spirit of unity, providing quality public services, and fulfilling the rights of the Papuan people. With this, he hopes that the welfare of the people of Papua can be realized soon.

However , Vice President Ma’ruf Amin realized that this effort was not easy. To determine the success of development in Papua, a conducive security situation is also needed.

All elements of society , not just elements of government , actually have a very important role to continue to assist in the realization of accelerated development promoted by the central government, including specifically development in the Land of Papua. Therefore, to achieve a much more optimal acceleration of development, collaboration from many parties is very important to continue.
