The Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) organization has been officially dissolved through the decision of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). However, it seems that the sympathizers of the organization are not sincere with the results of the government’s decision. In fact, the dissolution of HTI carried out by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights refers to Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2017. Based on the Perpu, HTI is considered contrary to the objectives, principles and characteristics based on the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and must be dissolved. The assertiveness of President Jokowi’s government in this regard, gave rise to its own grudges for HTI sympathizers. HTI, which did not accept the Perpu, accused Jokowi of being a President who was anti-Islam. However, is it true that the dissolution of HTI is a form of Jokowi’s anti-Islam attitude?

Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia as a branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir International is a transnational movement that is not limited to the territorial state with the aim of spreading the ideology of khilafah through political and intellectual means. Although it looks not anarchist, in fact the Hizb ut-Tahrir is very dangerous. Hizb ut-Tahrir moved by spreading indoctrination of the ideology of khilafah to government officials, security forces, and state officials. If you look at the long-term impact, it certainly becomes dangerous if state officials have a view to upholding the Khilafah system and turning away from the previous state ideology.

The efforts of Hizb ut-Tahrir in providing indoctrination of khilafah were in fact rejected by a number of countries including Islamic countries in the world. This is motivated by the existence of the coup agenda of the spread of indoctrination. For example, the Shabab group Muhammad attacked a military school in Cairo, Egypt in 1974 accompanied by the announcement of the establishment of an Islamic state under the leadership of Hizb ut-Tahrir. In addition, there was an attempted coup in Bangladesh by HTI involving active retired military officers and officers. The movement of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which uses soft but destructive means, eventually caused a number of countries to ban the movement of the organization.

Through Perpu Number 2 of 2017, Indonesia has added a series of countries that prohibit the movement of the Hizb ut-Tahrir. Despite being opposed by HTI sympathizers, this dissolution can be said to be the best step to minimize the worst possibilities that can be caused by these organizations which are increasingly developing in various regions in Indonesia. Indeed, the dissolution was also a very appropriate step to prevent the coup attempt carried out by HTI. Of course, HTI has always been consistent with its defense that their organization has never aimed at a coup. However, it can be seen in the Constitution of the Khilafah State of Hizb ut-Tahrir that the organization has devised various strategies and rules to uphold khilafah in Indonesia. It can be said, indoctrination of the ideology of khilafah to Indonesian society is one of the long-term strategies in planning a coup against the basic state of Pancasila.

Therefore, it is only natural that President Jokowi took decisive steps to dissolve HTI to prevent a coup d’état in Indonesia. In fact, it can be said, Jokowi’s step is a manifestation of a pro attitude towards all religious people in Indonesia that has actually accepted the Pancasila since the days of independence. Through these steps, it is hoped that religious people in Indonesia will be more united to defend Pancasila as the basis of the country which must be protected from the undermining of other ideologies.
