The Government Accelerates Development in Papua Through Synergy and Community Empowerment
JAKARTA – The central government continues to demonstrate its commitment to accelerating development in Papua. This was affirmed during a recent meeting between the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) and members of the Papua Province representative for the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development (BP3OKP) in Jakarta.
The Deputy for Domestic Political Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Major General Heri Wiranto, stated that the meeting served as a forum to strengthen central and regional coordination in accelerating development based on the paradigms of Healthy Papua, Smart Papua, and Productive Papua.
“They conveyed strategic aspirations to strengthen central-regional synergy, expedite the plenary session of the Central BP3OKP, and optimize the integrated communication system between ministries and institutions managing Special Autonomy funds to ensure effective development in Papua,” Heri said in Jakarta.
He added that the government is committed to following up on all these aspirations in a coordinated manner.
“We will follow up on the aspirations conveyed synergistically to ensure that every development program runs safely and provides real benefits to the Papuan people,” he added.
Meanwhile, the spirit of development is also growing at the community level. In Aimas District, Sorong Regency, dozens of Moi women participated in culinary training held by the Kwongke Kaban Salukh Moi Aimas Branch organization. This activity aims to empower women to play a role in the family economy.
“Moi women must have skills, not only for their families, but also to increase their income. Christmas cakes can be used to create small businesses that support the household economy,” said Sarlota Mobalen Malagam, a Moi woman involved in the activity.
This training aligns with the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s Asta Cita Program, which emphasizes the development of superior human resources, a people-centered economy, and women’s empowerment. The local government is expected to expand similar training to other districts to strengthen community-based economic independence.
From Nduga Regency, the government distributed merchandise to fill community kiosks in Koteka Village as part of a local economic empowerment program. Nduga community leader Elimus Wandikbo expressed his appreciation for the government’s support.
“As representatives of the Nduga Tribe, we are very grateful. This assistance isn’t just about goods, but about hope. Now we have a place to trade and live more independently,” he said.
The synergy between central government policies and local community initiatives demonstrates that Papua’s development is now moving in a real, inclusive, and oriented towards the people’s welfare.
