Aceh – The government has assured full support for disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. During his visit to Aceh, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that food supplies for affected residents remain secure.

While reviewing the construction of the Teupin Mane Bailey Bridge on the vital Bireuen-Takengon section, Sunday (7/12/2025), the President said that food distribution had been anticipated and would be sent from various regions.

“We will send food from elsewhere. We still have ample reserves. We will also write off KUR debts, so farmers don’t need to worry. This is not negligence, but a force majeure,” the President said.

During the inspection, the President held a dialogue with the TNI-Polri, the Ministry of Public Works technical team, and volunteers.

The President appreciated the responsiveness of all parties involved in infrastructure recovery. Speaking with residents, he emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in the aftermath of a disaster.

“All agencies are working well, working hand in hand with the people and local governments. The police and the military are all working,” said the Head of State.

To speed up the recovery, the President appointed Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak as the commander for accelerating bridge repairs.

“I appointed the Army Chief of Staff to lead the task force to accelerate bridge repairs because we have a large number of engineers and construction personnel. So we can help immediately,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno confirmed that the government is using the Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP) in accordance with the President’s instructions.

“The President has instructed that this situation be treated as a national priority. National logistics security is fully and totally available,” he said.

He added that all ministries and institutions were asked to be extra responsive in rescuing victims, distributing aid, and restoring facilities.

“This means that handling is carried out by deploying the central government’s maximum resources,” said Pratikno.

The government also expressed its condolences for the disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

“This grief is our collective grief,” he said.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya reiterated the government’s guarantee of sufficient funding and logistics.

“The President instructed the use of DSP to ensure aid can be delivered promptly and without any obstacles,” he said.

Teddy also said the government had deployed more than 50 helicopters and seven warships, including two hospital ships, to expedite aid distribution and evacuation.

“The need for ready-to-eat food, clean water, and the daily needs of women and children are being met as quickly as possible through all channels,” said Teddy.

The government reaffirmed its commitment that recovery in affected areas will be swift, coordinated, and ensure that people can return to their normal activities safely.
