The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are fully committed to ensuring a sense of security in the social environment
Jakarta – The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have reaffirmed their full commitment to maintaining public security through large-scale joint patrols down to the neighborhood (RT/RW) level. This measure follows up on National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo’s instructions following the surge in anarchic acts and looting in several areas at the end of August.
The Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri), Commissioner General of Police Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, emphasized that the presence of officers is a concrete form of the state protecting its citizens.
“On the instructions of the National Police Chief, we have requested that all regional and district police (Polres) immediately coordinate with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Joint patrols are being conducted to ensure the public is protected from all forms of threats, including riots and anarchic acts,” he said.
To that end, large-scale patrols are not only focused on the city center but also extend to residential areas. With this measure, authorities want to ensure a true sense of security for the community, down to the grassroots level.
“We ensure there’s no room for anarchy or vandalism. We’re conducting patrols down to the neighborhood unit (RT/RW) level so the public can directly feel the state’s presence,” he explained.
Dedi added that public participation is essential to maintaining order. Authorities cannot work alone without the support of residents and local leaders.
“Collaboration between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), local governments, community leaders, religious leaders, and youth is key to maintaining stability. The community is our eyes and ears on the ground,” he added.
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto also reaffirmed a similar commitment. He emphasized that the TNI will fully support the National Police’s efforts to ensure national stability. He stated that cross-institutional cooperation is key to effective security across all regions.
“The synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is non-negotiable. We are ready to intervene directly with the police to ensure the situation remains under control and the public feels safe,” he stressed.
This support was accompanied by an emphasis on professionalism and a humanistic approach in carrying out duties. General Agus reminded every soldier to prioritize the interests of the public in every security operation.
“We emphasize to all soldiers to carry out their duties with sincerity, remain humane, and prioritize the interests of the people. Our duty is not only to maintain order, but also to ensure that the public feels protected,” he concluded.
