Jakarta — The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have affirmed their solidarity in confronting various misleading narratives that have the potential to divide national unity. The security forces are committed to maintaining national stability by prioritizing firmness, professionalism, and a humanistic approach. This step aligns with government policy, which prioritizes national security and unity amidst social and political dynamics.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that expressing aspirations is a constitutional right of every citizen. However, he emphasized that this right must be exercised in an orderly manner, with due regard for the public interest, and the preservation of national unity.

“Every citizen has the right to express their opinion. However, there are conditions to this. These include considering the public interest, following the rules, and maintaining national unity,” said General Sigit.

He added that misleading narratives in the form of provocation, hoaxes, and hate speech could actually undermine the spirit of democracy being built. The National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) are present to ensure that public spaces remain safe from attempts to incite discord.

“All the steps we take are ultimately for the sake of maintaining the safety of the wider community and protecting national unity,” he continued.

Similarly, Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo emphasized that the presence of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) on the ground is clear evidence of the two institutions’ commitment to maintaining national security. The authorities’ primary goal is not only to calm the situation but also to restore security quickly and comprehensively.

“The public is our eyes and ears. Report any suspicious activity and potential disturbances to the nearest Bhabinkamtibmas, police station, or precinct,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Information Center (Kapuspen TNI), Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, also urged the public to express their aspirations peacefully without resorting to violence or vandalism. The government and legislature always provide space to hear the people’s voices.

“God willing, the government and the legislature will listen to the people’s aspirations and will definitely follow up,” said Freddy.

Freddy added that the public need not be overly anxious, as authorities, along with the government, community leaders, and religious figures, are always collaborating to maintain national security. He believes national stability will be maintained as long as all elements support and cooperate.

“With good collaboration, we can safeguard national unity from the threat of false narratives and provocation,” he added.

The solidarity of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in countering misguided narratives is clear evidence of the state’s presence in protecting the people. Through firm, measured, and humane measures, the authorities strive to ensure that national unity remains strong and that the people’s aspirations are channeled in a dignified manner.
