Bali – The government continues to strengthen its commitment to improving the nutritional quality and well-being of the community through the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG). As a national strategic program, the MBG is designed not only to meet the community’s need for nutritious food but also to build collective awareness of the importance of healthy eating patterns across all regions.

The implementation of MBG socialization in Buleleng confirmed that this program not only impacts the community’s nutritional quality but also provides empowerment for local communities. From family health education and strengthening nutritional literacy to job creation, MBG is a movement that reaches various aspects of community life.

The event was attended by Charles Honoris, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives; Risca Cristina, Regional Chair of the National Land Agency (BGN) in Bali; members of the Tabanan Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), and hundreds of local residents. The presence of legislative figures and regional policymakers reflected the strong support for the sustainability of this program, which targets various community groups.

On that occasion, Charles Honoris, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), emphasized that nutritional fulfillment should not stop at regulations or policies alone. He believed that sustainable nutrition education needs to be a collective movement that reaches families, especially parents, as the closest parties who determine children’s consumption patterns.

“A healthy diet is a crucial foundation for preventing various diseases and developing a young generation capable of competing in the future. Strengthening institutions and increasing the capacity of personnel involved in the program are key priorities to ensure optimal implementation of the MBG in the regions,” said Charles.

The MBG program has also had a significant impact on strengthening the local economy. Risca Cristina, Regional Chair of BGN Bali, stated that MBG not only provides nutritious food but also stimulates the community’s economy by involving local producers.

“Community involvement in the nutrition service kitchen also creates job opportunities, so the program’s benefits are felt not only in the health aspect, but also in the broader well-being of Buleleng residents,” said Risca.

By prioritizing raw materials from farmers, fishermen, livestock breeders, and micro-entrepreneurs in the region, this program opens up new economic opportunities and strengthens the local food supply chain. This engagement model also ensures the program’s sustainability at the grassroots level, ensuring its benefits are felt equally.

With the full support of the central and regional governments, MBG is expected to continue to grow as a driving force for shifting consumer consumption patterns toward healthier, more productive, and prosperous lifestyles. This program also builds a strong foundation for a superior and competitive future generation of Indonesians.
