Through SIAPkerja, the Government Presents a Paid Internship Program for New Graduates
Jakarta – The government has officially announced the opening of registration for a special internship program for fresh graduates or recent university graduates, which will begin on October 15, 2025. This program is intended to provide employment opportunities for graduates for a maximum of one year and will run for six months, from October 2025 to March 2026.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that registration for the internship program is carried out through the Ministry of Manpower’s SIAPkerja platform.
“We hope to launch this program on October 15,” he said.
Airlangga emphasized that the government has prepared various supporting features within the SIAPkerja system for internship seekers to access. Furthermore, the government will coordinate with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo), and state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to record the quota and available job positions.
“Companies are expected to list their demands, each company listing the number of open jobs. Then, on the 15th, graduates in the first year can start accessing the SIAPkerja page and register,” he explained.
In this first phase, the government is targeting a quota of 20,000 participants. Each participant is allowed to apply for more than one job position. According to data from the Ministry of Manpower, approximately 951,000 recent graduates, from undergraduate to diploma levels with a maximum graduation period of one year, are registered in the SIAPkerja system and are eligible to participate.
“So, the graduates are already there, so those who register, if they graduate within a year, will already have a database there,” said Airlangga.
Successful participants will receive an allowance equal to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), or approximately Rp 3.3 million per month. The program received a budget allocation of Rp 198 billion for 2025 and the same amount for 2026.
“This system will be opened for registration on October 15th, starting from October 15th,” Airlangga emphasized.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli also explained the program’s implementation mechanism. He stated that the program will run in two phases.
“The company will then post the vacancies. We’ll give them about a week, and then the prospective participants will make their selections,” he said.
Yassierli added that there is no limit to the number of companies that can participate in this program.
“It’s free. The only requirement is that those registered have a business license and are registered with the WLKP (Company Mandatory Employment Reporting Agency),” he stressed.
With this program, the government hopes to provide concrete solutions for fresh graduates seeking employment opportunities while also supporting national economic growth by absorbing young workers.
