Jakarta — The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) reaffirm their solidarity in maintaining national stability and protecting the public from anarchic actions that could threaten public security. This firm stance by security forces aligns with directives from President Prabowo Subianto that any acts of destruction of public facilities, attacks on officers, and arson must be dealt with according to the law.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the police will not tolerate riots that harm the broader community. He emphasized that law enforcement would be carried out professionally, measured, and with respect for human rights (HAM).

“The President has instructed me and the Commander of the TNI regarding anarchistic actions. We, TNI and Polri, are ordered to take firm steps in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations,” said General Sigit.

He added that these firm measures are not solely to punish lawbreakers but also to maintain national stability and provide a sense of security to all citizens. The National Police Chief stressed that the right to express opinions is protected by law but must be carried out orderly and with respect for the public interest.

“Freedom of expression is the right of every citizen. However, there are conditions, including consideration for public interest, adherence to rules, and preservation of national unity,” he added.

Similarly, Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo said the presence of officers on the ground demonstrates the government’s seriousness in ensuring public order. He explained that TNI and Polri work together to quickly and comprehensively restore security.

“With regular patrols, persuasive appeals, and full support from all community layers, report any suspicious activity or potential disturbances to the nearest police sector or district police. We are confident the situation will soon return to normal and conducive,” said Dedi.

Meanwhile, Head of TNI Information Center Brigadier General Freddy Ardianzah emphasized that the TNI is ready to take firm action against perpetrators who damage public facilities, vital objects, or engage in looting. “Firm” means clear, targeted, and resolute actions, while “measured” means in accordance with the law, proportional, and not excessive.

“The TNI will take the firmest possible action against those who damage public facilities, vital objects, including looting of private homes, public facilities, and economic centers,” he stated.

The solidarity between TNI and Polri in facing potential riots is clear evidence that the state is present to protect the people and safeguard public facilities. With firm, professional, and measured steps, the security forces hope the public continues to feel safe and that Indonesia remains united in facing challenges.
