JAKARTA — The Pemungutan Suara Ulang (PSU) in several regions following the Constitutional Court’s (MK) decision marks a significant chapter in the consolidation of democracy in Indonesia.

The General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has called on all candidate pairs (paslon) and their supporters to accept the PSU results with an open heart as a reflection of political maturity.

Iffa Rosita, a member of KPU RI, urged all candidates to respond to the PSU results with a spirit of resignation.

“I hope all candidate pairs can accept the results graciously and with an open heart in receiving the determination of the vote count,” she stressed after monitoring the plenary session of the PSU vote recapitulation in Serang District.

Iffa reminded the PSU organizers in various regions to be cautious throughout the entire recapitulation process.

She pointed out that out of the eleven regions conducting PSU, seven have again contested the results in the Constitutional Court.

However, Iffa hoped that no more parties or regions would file lawsuits over PSU results.

“Serang, let’s not follow suit,” she said.

Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and neutrality so that all election results, including the PSU, are not disputed by the public or the respective candidates in the contest.

Meanwhile, HM Arus Abdul Karim, the Chairman of the Central Sulawesi Provincial People’s Representative Council (DPRD), visited the PSU implementation in Parigi Moutong District.

During his visit, he expressed hopes for the process to be peaceful and smooth.

“We hope this PSU runs smoothly, safely, and in a conducive manner,” he said.

Arus also urged candidates and their campaign teams to accept the results sincerely and avoid actions that could disrupt peace.

“To the candidates who are not elected, we hope you can accept the results wholeheartedly,” he added.

On the other hand, KH. Muhammad Askin, the Chairman of PCNU Kutai Kartanegara, called on the public to show maturity by accepting the PSU results openly.

“We urge all elements of society to accept the election results with an open heart, uphold democracy, and prioritize the common good over group interests,” he emphasized.

KH. Askin stressed the importance of nurturing unity and reconciliation after the political competition.

“Let us continue the struggle to build Kukar by maintaining stability, strengthening brotherhood, and advancing the region with Islamic and national values,” he said.
