JAKARTA – The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) expressed its appreciation for the government’s swift and measured response to global economic challenges, particularly regarding the new tariff policy imposed by the United States on Indonesian products.
The President of the Indonesian Labor Union (KSPI) and the Labor Party, Said Iqbal, assessed that the formation of the Employment Termination Task Force (Satgas PHK) was a wise step to anticipate further impacts on the employment sector.
“The layoff task force, which has been planned for a long time, must be formed immediately,” said Said Iqbal.
He explained that proactive government action is essential to maintain national industrial resilience and prevent layoffs. The establishment of the Layoff Task Force is expected to improve the structured handling of labor issues and provide a sense of security for workers. KSPI views this policy as a concrete manifestation of the government’s concern for the welfare of workers.
“Indonesia currently faces significant global challenges, but the government has demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting workers and maintaining the stability of the industrial sector,” said Said Iqbal.
He believes that solid cooperation between the government, industry players, and labor unions is a crucial foundation for creating a healthy and productive employment climate. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cross-sector coordination to ensure optimal implementation of labor protection policies.
“We hope President Prabowo Subianto can continue his commitment to workers and uphold national economic sovereignty,” Said Iqbal concluded.
The KSPI also assessed the government’s move to forge a trade agreement with the United States as a strategy that favors national interests. In a dynamic global environment, the government’s courage and speed in decision-making are crucial for Indonesia’s employment stability and future economic growth.
