Welcoming ISF, Jakarta Residents Encouraged to WFH on September 5, 2024
Jakarta – The government has appealed to Jakarta residents to work from home (WFH) on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This appeal was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres RI), Heru Budi Hartono, considering a number of major agendas that have the potential to cause traffic jams in the capital on that day.
Heru explained that on that date two important events would take place which were expected to trigger an increase in traffic density.
“On September 5, there will be a visiting head of state and there will be other state activities together,” said Heru.
The first event is the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) which will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This forum is attended by a number of important figures and delegates from various countries, so it is expected to increase traffic flow around the Senayan area.
In addition, on the same day, a grand mass will be held at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK). This large-scale religious event is expected to attract thousands of people, adding to the congestion on Jakarta’s main roads.
“There is a mass at GBK so we urge everyone to pay attention to this on September 5 so that they can make a decision to work from home independently,” added Heru.
Meanwhile, the Head of State Protocol (KPN), Andy Rachmianto, revealed that Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Tuesday (3/9).
“We will welcome the state visit of Pope Francis, we will treat him as a state guest,” said Andy.
The meeting between Pope Francis and President Joko Widodo is planned to take place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (4/9).
With the series of important events, the government hopes that the public will consider working from home to reduce traffic congestion and ensure the smooth running of state and religious activities that will take place.
This appeal is expected to help maintain a conducive traffic situation and reduce the potential for severe congestion in Jakarta.
