Jakarta – The Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has shown tangible results for the future of Indonesia’s younger generation. In its first year, the government successfully distributed 1.4 billion nutritious meal portions to school children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers across the country.

President Prabowo Subianto personally reported the progress of the MBG program. In his statement, Prabowo explained that within 10 months of implementation, the program had reached the development of 12,508 Food and Nutrition Production Centers (SPPG), or centralized kitchen units, out of the planned target of 32,000.

“Today, the Free Nutritious Meal program has reached 12,508 centers from our target of 32,000, meaning that today 1,410,000,000 portions have been cooked and distributed since January 6, 2025,” said the President.

Furthermore, Prabowo mentioned that 36.7 million beneficiaries have directly experienced the benefits of MBG, including school children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. He considers this achievement a proud accomplishment for Indonesia and a matter of global attention.

“As far as I know, the President of Brazil told me they needed 11 years to reach 40 million, whereas we, thank God, achieved 36 million in just one year,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of DPP Projo, Budi Arie Setiadi, views this achievement as concrete evidence that the Prabowo-Gibran administration is running in line with the vision and priority programs launched from the start. According to him, Prabowo and Gibran continue to show real work amid global geopolitical challenges and economic uncertainties.

“The future projections of Mr. Prabowo, realized through national priority programs, are underway; the Prabowo-Gibran administration remains loyal to fighting for the people,” said Budi Arie.

He added that the MBG program exemplifies how government policies not only promise but truly address the basic needs of society.

From an academic perspective, Professor of Nutrition Science at IPB University, Prof. Hardinsyah, believes that the implementation of MBG in the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration provides a fundamental basis for improving a healthy human resource.

“The implementation of MBG in this first year is an important foundation to build a healthier, stronger, and smarter Indonesian human resource,” he said.

So far, the MBG program has been carried out in 38 provinces, covering 509 regencies and 7,022 sub-districts across Indonesia. This achievement is concrete proof of the government’s efforts to realize public welfare through improving national nutritional quality.
