Jakarta – The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) deployed 2,818 joint personnel to secure the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held from May 12 to 15, 2025, at the Indonesian Parliament Complex (DPR/MPR RI) in Jakarta.

This session marks a significant moment as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of PUIC’s establishment in 1999.

“For the event on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Polda Metro Jaya deployed 2,818 joint personnel stationed at the Parliament Complex and several hotels across Jakarta,” said Police Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, in a statement on Wednesday (May 14).

Ade Ary explained that the security forces were drawn from multiple agencies: 108 personnel from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri), 200 from the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), 38 from the Jakarta Provincial Government, and 2,472 from the Regional Task Force (Satgasda).

“The deployment is intended to ensure security, order, and smooth proceedings throughout the PUIC session and its related events,” he added.

The 19th PUIC Session carries the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience.” It is attended by around 500 participants from member and observer states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The presence of delegates from various countries underscores Indonesia’s important role as host and strategic partner in inter-parliamentary relations among Islamic nations.

To support the smooth execution of the event, the public has been urged to help maintain security and public order.

Commissioner Ade Ary also reminded citizens to remain calm, not be provoked by misleading information, and to exhibit maturity during this international event.

“Additionally, we urge the public to avoid the area around the Parliament Complex to help ease traffic congestion,” he said.

He further advised that any public demonstrations should be held peacefully and in accordance with existing regulations. This is essential to ensure the session’s success and to respect the presence of international guests.

“We invite all elements of society to uphold Indonesia’s good reputation on the global stage by demonstrating maturity and orderly conduct, especially throughout this international gathering,” Ade Ary emphasized.

With optimal security measures and strong public support, Indonesia is expected to demonstrate its capability as a gracious host while strengthening cooperation among OIC member states through the PUIC parliamentary forum.

This session also serves as an important platform to reinforce democratic institutions and good governance in the Islamic world.
