The G20 Summit (Summit) is a major event. This activity is a moment where countries that are members of the G20 gather to discuss global issues, so that it is necessary to strengthen the role of the mass media to participate in the success of the G20 Summit.

The Director General (Dirjen) of Information and Public Communication of Kominfo Usman Kansong said the mass media had an important role in supporting the implementation of the G20 Summit.

In an effort to publish and promote the G20 Presidency in Indonesia, his party has 2 targets that must be achieved, namely the community at home and abroad. For the domestic public, his party wants all Indonesian people to have a sense of belonging in organizing the G20 Summit.

Usman said, here the media is very important to convey to the public what are the benefits and what the Indonesian G20 Presidency means for Indonesia and for all its people. For the international public, according to him, the G20 Presidency is an opportunity to introduce Indonesia to the international community.

Usman said, this is a nation branding of the Indonesian state to the international world. We must be able to convey to the world that Indonesia is a big country and it must be reported to the world that Indonesia is able to organize an event like the G20 with all its potential.

On the same occasion, Usman Kansong together with the Coordinating Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayodhia Kalake, visited a number of locations where the G20 Summit was held in Bali with a number of leaders of the mass media.

The involvement of the mass media in the success of the G20 Summit is expected to have a positive impact on the economy in Indonesia, one of which is being able to open investment opportunities.

Previously, the Head of the Communications Bureau of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Andreas Dipi Patria said, the G20 Summit is a door on how we promote not only people who come for tourism, but also opportunities for people to see Indonesia’s readiness as a place of investment, a place for people to visit. invest.

Andreas hopes that both in terms of tourism and investment, it will be able to have a double impact on national economic growth and create jobs for the community.

In a temporary count, it is recorded that at least 33 thousand workers are needed to be able to provide services for 150 side events of the G20 Summit series next year. Thus the implementation of the G20 in Indonesia will not only have an impact on Bali, which is the peak location, but also nationally move the economy.

Meanwhile, I Wayan Koster as the Governor of Bali said that the initial meeting of the 2022 G20 Summit series had begun in Bali, last week, with the participant’s response being claimed to be very satisfactory.

From the first meeting on 9-10 December 2021, it was observed that the implementation went smoothly, starting from the arrival of the delegation, meeting security, implementing health protocols, reporting to the entertainment and food served.

Wayan Koster said, as directed by President Joko Widodo, as the first developing country to host the G20 Summit as well as the first country in Southeast Asia, the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 must be able to make an impression.

On a different occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador and special staff (stafsus) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-Sherpa G20 Indonesia, Triansyah Djani assessed that synergy and support from all parties were needed to support the success of the G20 Indonesia Presidency. Especially from the media to be able to create positive and constructive opinions on the Indonesian G20 Presidency.

In his written statement, he said, there is a role for the media to provide education to the public about the work and benefits of the Indonesian G20 presidency.

Djani hopes that the media can take an intermestic approach to amplify the G20 Presidency to the domestic and international community. Especially in an effort to echo the priority sectors of the Indonesian G20 Presidency.

He explained that the Indonesian Presidency this time carried the theme ‘Recover Toghether, Recover Stronger’ with a shared vision of recovery for all parties. Not only G20 members. According to him, this theme is driven by the complexity of world conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has created multi-dimensional crises in many countries.

Countries attending the G20 are invited to participate actively in contributing to global issues in the G20.

For this reason, the role of the media in echoing the G20 Summit in Indonesia is certainly very important. The general public must obtain clear information related to the holding of this event.
