The government continues to accelerate the transfer of the State Capital (IKN) from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. The IKN named Nusantara is also believed to be a breakthrough to realize Indonesia’s 2045 vision.

IKN is a program that is being worked on seriously by the government, the development of IKN itself has a goal so that later development can run in an Indonesian-centric way, not Java-centric.

Police General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) said that the construction of the Nusantara IKN was a breakthrough to realize Indonesia’s 2045 vision. Budi said, with the construction of the Nusantara IKN, Indonesia’s roads were back and beyond the level of growth before the pandemic opened.

The Vision of Indonesia 2045 which was proclaimed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in 2019 is an illustration of Indonesia’s form at the age of 100 years of independence. Indonesia at that time, according to this vision, had become a sovereign, developed, just and prosperous country. Among others, by the marked success of Indonesia, which is ranked fifth in the world’s economic power.

Budi assessed that Indonesia needed a big breakthrough and extraordinary creativity to stay on the roadmap of Indonesia’s 2045 vision. One of them was the big decision to start the development of the Nusantara IKN.

Indonesia will sooner have a digital-based economic model as a growth driver. Including adopting a sustainable economic direction, friendly to nature and more geographically equitable.

Currently, Indonesia’s spatial structure is dominated by Java Island by 57.89 percent, even though the potential for other regions is very large. This is the explanation why President Jokowi decided to start IKN development as soon as possible.

Budi said IKN Nusantara was designed as a new growth area with all criteria including smart, green and sustainable. The government wants to take advantage of the momentum of national development acceleration to realize Indonesia’s 2045 vision.

On the one hand, he said that the Covid-19 pandemic has more or less disrupted the projections for world economic growth. Therefore, Indonesia must have a major breakthrough in order to remain the world’s fifth largest economic power in 2045.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, various world economic and financial institutions saw Indonesia as an emerging power that would become the world’s economic power in the next one to two decades. In his written statement, Budi stated that the idea of community transformation had been tried for a long time in various aspects of national life.

With the existence of an IKN called Nusantara, the idea of transformation will certainly gain enthusiasm as well as enormous resources so that it will be accelerated properly.

Budi explained, IKN Nusantara will be built with a modern concept, high technology like a smart city, and fully complying with the principles of environmental sustainability will not only change the paradigm of society, but also social and cultural behavior. One of them is the paradigm and behavior in caring for nature and the environment.

The transformation of the Nusantara IKN will later be seen in various aspects, ranging from transportation, reforestation facilities, energy, to natural wealth. Budi said the transformation in movement or mobility was realized through efficient, energy-efficient and low-carbon green transportation and infrastructure.

To realize Indonesia’s 2045 Vision, IKN Nusantara is prepared to become an area that encourages the creation of world class talent, so that Indonesia will be more ready to compete in the midst of globalization.

On a different occasion, Former Head of the National Planning Agency Andrinof Chaniago said that IKN in East Kalimantan would be a new engine for the long journey of the Republic of Indonesia. In his press statement, Andrinof said that East Kalimantan will definitely become a new engine for Indonesia’s long journey considering that the island of Kalimantan will become a new foundation for Indonesia in the future. He also considered that a number of figures who rejected the transfer of IKN to Kalimantan were unfounded, it was only a matter of concern.

We need to know that Kalimantan is very potential for the maritime industry, the mineral raw material industry to the rubber material industry. The relocation of the capital city to East Kalimantan will of course not interfere with the sustainability of development in Jakarta. So that Jakarta will remain a big city.

Realizing Vision 2045 of course requires great determination and action, the development of IKN Nusantara in Kalimantan is a manifestation of the government’s concern to develop Indonesia in the long term.
