KH Ma’ruf Amin as the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia said that the government plans to change the strategy in dealing with KST into a dynamic defensive approach. This strategy is believed to be effective against the brutal action of KST in Papua so that there are no more victims from civil society.
The government is trying its best to continue to protect the community, including in Papua. Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that the people of Papua have basic rights in the form of the right to a calm situation from all kinds of disturbances. Moreover, a safe situation will support the development of welfare in Papua.
Welfare for the Papuan people is something that must be fought for, however, the issue of security cannot be taken as secondary. Because the Papuan people should not become victims just because of the ego of the separatist group.
Spokesperson for Vice President Masduki Baidowi said there were many special breakthroughs made by the government for the Papuan team led by Ma’ruf Amin. Masduki once said that the people of Papua and West Papua want to be prosperous through education and human resources. Of course, a humanist approach is absolutely necessary so that the Papuan people have a sense of security in pursuing education or in carrying out their activities.
KST also has a track record of inhumane acts, Afandy Tiakoly a gold miner who became a victim of violence perpetrated by KST. Apart from that, Aris Kalan, a construction worker, was hacked at Intan Jaya by KST members.
News about brutal acts and conflicts in Papua seem to be volumes of news, to suppress them, of course, a humanist approach is needed so that people still have sympathy for the government.
With a humanist approach, it is hoped that the community will be more sympathetic and certainly the process of improving welfare for Papua can continue, because it will be difficult to develop an area if the people still like to spread conflict.
Mahfud MD as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) said firmly that the approach taken for Papua is comprehensive and synergistic welfare development. This means that the approach for the Papuan people is not an approach using weapons but also welfare.
Of course, security is the key in creating prosperity in Papua. If the people of Papua feel safe, of course the welfare of the people in Papua can increase. Therefore, it is very important for the government to intervene in efforts to secure the people in Papua.
It should be noted that KST shot Second Sergeant Miskel Rumbiak Saereri and died after being shot.
