It is very important for students to be able to support and actively contribute to the succession of the implementation of the G20 Indonesia Presidency. The reason is that to deal with multidimensional crises in the future, bright ideas from young people are needed, especially if they don’t handle the crisis immediately.

The Group of Twenty (G20) High-Level Conference Forum (KTT) held in Bali, where Indonesia is the presidency, it is undeniable that the organization of these activities is very important for the world. How not, because the G20 member countries alone can be said to be able to represent more than two-thirds of the world’s population, then become a representation of 75 percent of global trade to around 80 percent of world GDP.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, explained that in general there are two currents of issues discussed in the G20, namely the Finance Track and the Sherpa Track. For Finance Track itself, as the name implies, means focusing on the financial sector.

As for the Sherpa Track itself, the focus of the discussion is in many fields and is much broader outside of financial issues, such as the digital economy, sustainable energy, environment, tourism and so on. These issues for Coordinating Minister Airlangga are indeed very strategic issues to continue to be discussed, especially being prepared for the next few years.

According to him, in preparation for the world to be able to provide solutions or solutions to the many threats of multidimensional crises that are currently happening, it is very important to have active involvement and support from universities and students. The chairman of the Golkar Party appealed to the entire academic community to be able to be involved in the succession of the G20 performances.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, said that trust in Indonesia to hold the baton for the G20 presidency is a matter of pride and provides a strong bargaining position for Indonesia to project future progress.

Of course, with Indonesia’s success in leading a prestigious forum with an international level, it will further improve the image of the country in the eyes of the world so that other countries will pay more attention to and take into account Indonesia that this nation is indeed a great nation.

On a different occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto also invited all students to be able to increase their participation more actively in many series of G20 activities, including the Engagement Group – Youth 20 (Y20).

On the other hand, the Head of the Communication, Information Services, and Conference Bureau of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Haryo Limanseto, explained that he hoped that the G20 event would not just be a celebration. Because according to him, the forum will bring a lot of benefits to Indonesia itself, especially if all parties are able to take advantage of this very valuable momentum.

The main objective of holding the G20 Presidency of Indonesia itself is indeed to be able together with other countries in the world to get out of the many threats of crises and also to rise to become a much more resilient country in the future.

If you want this, then it is very important to need encouragement for the transformation of global ways of working, including changes in mindset and business models, so how to take advantage of every opportunity even in the midst of adversity or a pandemic to be able to immediately produce new breakthroughs.

These steps of thinking are usually found in many young people, especially students. They have a creative, innovative and critical mindset so that the succession of the G20 implementation really needs to be supported by the active involvement of students.

Furthermore, Haryo added that Indonesia itself through the G20 Presidency will continue to encourage and fight for the aspirations or interests of vulnerable and developing countries, thus creating a world management order that is much more just because countries that are considered less powerful remain. can voice their opinions and interests.

The characters defending the weak are also very able to represent how students think. Not infrequently, students are found and even do not hesitate to carry out various kinds of demonstrations on the streets to voice the voices of those who are considered weak in an order.

Moreover, if these developing countries are able to continue to be accommodated by their interests, it will also create a strengthening of world solidarity in the context of unity when they want to face a threat including climate change and also be able to encourage sustainable development.

In the G20 Presidency, Indonesia seeks not only to produce narrative concepts, but also concrete deliverables that benefit Indonesia and the world. According to Coordinating Minister Airlangga, in 2020 to 2030 there will be a demographic bonus momentum and has the potential to bring about a middle income trap, which is a challenge for millennial and generation Z youths.

With all the challenges and threats of multidimensional crises that may occur in the near future, it is absolutely undeniable that the active role of the entire community, especially the younger generation and students, is very important in supporting Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.
