Head of BIN: AMN Produces Future Nation Leaders who are Competitive and Have the Spirit of Defending the Country
Surabaya – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated the Surabaya Archipelago Student Dormitory (AMN) Building on Tuesday (29/11/2022).
Present at the inauguration of AMN Surabaya included the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas , Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono , and Acting Governor of East Java Emil Dardak.
In his remarks, the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Budi Gunawan, said the Nusantara Student Dormitory (AMN) was a joint national project involving various Ministries, Institutions and the Provincial Government (Pemprov).
“The development of AMN is a joint project of the nation involving various Ministries, Institutions and the Provincial Government (Pemprov),” said Head of BIN Budi Gunawan.
According to the Head of BIN Budi Gunawan, the development of AMN is a “project” with the nation involving various Ministries, Institutions and the Provincial Government (Pemprov). Meanwhile, the management and development of AMN is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture by involving BIN, TNI, Polri, Kemenpora and Pemrov . Operationally, the Ministry of Education and Culture , in the management and development of AMN, empowers local state universities. This is under the umbrella of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 35 of 2022.
Budi Gunawan also said that AMN was built as a concrete response from the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the aspirations of 50 Papuan leaders at the 10 September 2019 meeting at the State Palace. They conveyed to the Head of State the idea of building a Student Dormitory which could act as a crater for the young generation, multi- cultural, loving the Republic of Indonesia, and highly competitive in various fields
Other AMNs are planned for Makassar, Minahasa, Bantul, South Jakarta and Malang. Selected students will stay at AMN for 2 years (4 semesters) and receive scholarships for 4 years. Scholarships are provided by LPDP through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology ( Kemendikbudristek ), said the Head of BIN.
The Head of BIN hopes that AMN can become one of the centers for the birth of future national leaders who are highly competitive, have a spirit of defending the country, have a strong sense of nationality within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and are loyal to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
