IKN Improves the Standard of Living and the Economy of the People of East Kalimantan

150

The existence of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago is able to improve the standard of living and also the economy owned by the people in East Kalimantan, so that the gaps that have occurred so far can be more resolved due to the change in the development paradigm which has become Indonesia-centric from this Government.

The development of the National Archipelago’s IKN is indeed an effort by the Government to be able to promote economic development that is far more inclusive , including also disseminating the existence of a new economic growth magnet, so that in the future, economic growth in Indonesia will not only be based and centered on theJava island only.

Not only that, the existence of the Nusantara National Institute itself is also a manifestation of the mainstreaming of symbols of national identity , green economy, green energy, smart transportation and also the existence of governance that is far more efficient and effective as a milestone for the great transformation of the Indonesian nation going forward.

Indeed , in its journey , the existence of IKN Nusantara has been designed from the start as a catalyst to be able to continue to open up the economic potential in the country in a more comprehensive manner , encourage growth, create more jobs , and reduce poverty.

All of these efforts are carried out of course by making the existence of IKN Nusantara as a symbol of national identity as well as a new economic center of gravity which is expected by many parties to be able to bring many impacts by making the epicenter of growth more evenly distributed in regions other than Java Island to support Indonesia-centric development for the sake of to welcome the existence of a developed Indonesia in 2045.

IKN Nusantara is expected to be able to disseminate the benefits of economic development. If IKN is moved to a province that has good connectivity with other provinces, an increase in trade flows of more than 50% of Indonesia’s territory can occur. In addition, it will also reduce inter-regional disparities because moving the capital city outside Java Island encourages trade between regions, encourages investment in the new state capital province and surrounding provinces and encourages economic diversification, so as to create a boost of economic added value in non-traditional sectors in various non-Javanese regions.

Regarding the usefulness of the Archipelago IKN in improving the standard of living and also the economy for all people, especially in the East Kalimantan (East Kalimantan) region , Secretary of the Turatea Jeneponto Association / Family Harmony (KKTJ) of Balikpapan City, Muslimin Desiga admitted that there was indeed a transfer and construction of the IKN in East Kalimantan. very positive.

It was not half-hearted, in fact, the increase in the standard of living and also the economy in the community was directly felt not only for the local community, but also for the migrant community in Balikpapan.

According to him, after the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially designated the IKN Nusantara area in East Kalimantan, the positive impact was immediately felt by the community, mainly regarding an increase in the standard of living economically and financially.

Not only that, another positive impact obtained from the development of the National Archipelago National Park in East Kalimantan is an increase in the purchasing power of goods, transportation, lodging or hotels and also an increase in sales of many typical or original products from Kalimantan .

However, of course, when the government has made every effort so that there can be equitable distribution of development and economic growth in society, the people themselves must also be able to be prepared to accept it with various efforts.

Muslimin Desiga stated that his party continues to make various kinds of preparations, mainly to improve the quality of human resources (HR) for the Jeneponto residents themselves and also provide various kinds of training and skills provision.

In particular, efforts to improve the quality of human resources are focused on the younger generation so that they can be more competitive with migrant human resources entering East Kalimantan. Muslimin also added that after a lot of skills training, the youth in Jeneponto could be more competitive and their quality could improve so they could be involved and work in IKN.

The reason is, it cannot be denied that there is an obstacle that is felt by the local people themselves, namely because many people keep coming in and arriving, including workers from across East Kalimantan so of course the local residents themselves must be able to continue to increase their competitiveness.

The economy of the people in East Kalimantan and their standard of living continue to increase with the existence of IKN Nusantara because indeed this has become the goal of the Government of Indonesia, namely to create an even distribution of development including equity in increasing economic levels throughout the people of the country.
