Preparations for securing the implementation of the 2023 ASEAN Summit also use the latest sophisticated technology. All security forces continue to do their best and optimally to ensure that the implementation of this international event can run smoothly.

Security forces from all joint forces consisting of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) are continuing to carry out the entire security preparation process on the international agenda which will be held in Indonesia soon.

The international agenda is the holding of the ASEAN Summit 2023, which will take place in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) in May 2023.

Regarding the preparations for the security sector at the 2023 ASEAN Summit, the Head of the National Police Public Relations Division (Kadiv), Inspector General Pol. Sandi Nugroho stated that indeed security at the event which was chaired by Indonesia continued to be guided by the success of securing the holding of the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit which had been held very successfully and was also chaired by Indonesia, at that time it was held on the Island of the Gods, Bali.

In fact, to continue to ensure that his staff remain disciplined in security preparations in order to create an optimal and maximum readiness, the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo also never stops reminding all of his staff of various kinds of security readiness.

The appeal made by the National Police Chief has even been expressed since a long time ago, when he first appointed several main officials at the National Police Headquarters (Mabes) together with 7 (seven) Regional Police Chiefs and carried out the position handover ceremony (Sertijab). At that time, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo advised that all levels of the National Police must continue to be prepared because in the future there will indeed be several agendas at the national to international level which really require extra security from the security forces so that all events can be held safely, smoothly and under control. .

The number one person in the Polri institution also alluded to how the security forces in Indonesia had been very successful in overseeing the sustainability of the previous international event, namely the G20 Summit in Bali, so by having this experience, he advised all of his staff to be able to prepare for the 2023 ASEAN Summit by so good that it continues to be able to maintain the good name of the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world.

At least now, the country’s security forces have proven to be very successful in overseeing the success of the G20 Summit, which is an international event. So for other international events held in Indonesia, they already have a separate security standard from the Bhayangkara Corps.

Reflecting on this, it is said that at least there were more than 13 thousand Polri personnel who were directly involved in securing the G20 Summit at that time. In fact, in the security operation, the Police also involved 3 (three) Polda at once, namely the Bali Police, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police and the East Java (East Java) Police.

No half-hearted, even in securing the last G20 Summit, the security forces also used the latest technology, namely the use of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) and face recognition. It is known that this sophisticated technology can be used to further maximize efforts to detect people who are on the People Wanted List (DPO).

Furthermore, it’s not even enough to just get there, even though it has been equipped with the latest technology in efforts to secure international events such as face recognition technology, in fact the security forces still carry out strict checks on all people who enter or exit and pass by at all locations. the G20 Summit venue area in Bali in November 2022. All of these safeguards or standards will be applied at the 2023 ASEAN Summit as ordered by the Chief of Police.

Meanwhile, the NTT Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Johni Asadoma stated that there was a division of tasks in the focus on security carried out by all levels of the security apparatus in many joint personnel.

He explained that security for all series of meetings with countries at the 2023 ASEAN Summit would also be carried out by the TNI, in particular the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres). Then the National Police will continue to fill in if there is a shortage of security personnel in the field.

The use of the latest sophisticated technology has indeed become a necessity, so it is very important to do in the era of technology that continues to grow rapidly as it is today. Therefore, all security preparations for the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023 in Labuan Bajo continue to be carried out by the security forces by adopting at least international standards that are owned in the success of security escorts at the last G20 Summit.
