Comparing SBY’s Road Construction with Jokowi’s, Evidence of Anies’ Way of Thinking is Misguided and Partial
Jakarta – Critics stated that there were more road constructions during the SBY era compared to the Jokowi era. One of these criticisms was conveyed by the Presidential Candidate for the Coalition for Change and Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan at the PKS 21st Anniversary of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Sunday (21/5), at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta.
Anies’ statement received responses from a number of parties, including KSP Main Expert, Ade Irfan Pulungan and Chair of the Perindo Party DPP National Daily, Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) Muhammad Zainul Majdi.
The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) responded to Anies Baswedan’s statement comparing road construction during the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
KSP Main Expert Ade Irfan Pulungan said that Anies’ comparison confirmed that his point of view was partial and did not see the whole.
“Whoever the president is, all development carried out by the government must be seen from his point of view. This is part of developing Indonesia and the welfare of the people. The way of thinking should be like that, not partial. We should want to jointly build this republic from Sabang to Merauke, from Rote Island to Miangas like that,” said Ade, in Jakarta.
During Jokowi’s administration, there were many infrastructure developments, including toll roads. Even though it is paid, it helps the people’s economy and business people who need connectivity between regions quickly. Delivery of goods from one province to another will be faster with the existence of toll roads.
“Users of the road are ordinary people, whether it’s the general public or business needs. So if business needs, of course, you need speed of time, right? He connects from one place to another,” he explained.
Meanwhile, in a different place, the former governor of NTB who is also the chairman of the National Daily for the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) Muhammad Zainul Majdi reminded Anies Baswedan to submit data thoroughly and accurately.
“I listened to Anies’ speech. His speech was interesting, one of which was that he compared free road construction during the SBY and Pak Jokowi eras,” he said.
TGB added that in his capacity as a presidential candidate, Anies should be fair in submitting data to the public. It is not only limited to leading public opinion, gaining sympathy for personal political interests.
“If it’s fair and what it is, he should have said that during President Jokowi’s time there were more than 316 thousand km of roads that were worked on, which were not built in the previous period. As a presidential candidate, he should have presented the data in its entirety,” concluded TGB. [*]
