Jakarta – Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Sidarto Danusubroto, revealed that intolerance, radicalism and terrorism are still threats lurking in Indonesia.

“After the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic is over, the threat of intolerance, radicalism and terrorism (IRT) is also very dangerous. There have been many findings indicating that several institutions and communities are exposed to this threat,” he said in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) held by the Moya Institute entitled “Pancasila: Dynamics and Challenges Faced?” at the Gran Melia Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (25/5).

The man who was also President Soekarno’s last aide (1967-1968), revealed that the results of his research said that the IRT was relatively capable of infiltrating the state civil apparatus (ASN) in various institutions. In fact, he considered that radicalism was suspected to have penetrated the TNI-Polri personnel.

The same thing was expressed by Observer on strategic issues Prof. Imron Cotan who stressed the importance of strengthening Pancasila to counteract various dangerous ideologies.

According to him, Pancasila has been tested by various clashes of ideologies such as the extreme left and the extreme right, even liberal ideology, and Pancasila has successfully graduated, graduating summa cum laude. Therefore, Pancasila needs to be continuously preserved by all elements of the nation.

“If not the nation fails to maintain its flexibility and continues to be battered, hit at any time by divisive politics, the existence of Pancasila is threatened and Indonesia has the potential to become a failed state,” he added.

On the same occasion, the Secretary General of the Gelora Party Mahfudz Sidiq who is also a reform politician considers Pancasila as the nation’s ideology so far to have succeeded in guarding the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“When in 1945 we were just born as a nation state, with a heterogeneous and pluralistic society that has survived to this day as an advanced and modern nation state. It is our duty to make adjustments, along with the developments and conditions of the times where democracy is compatible with the basis of our country, namely Pancasila,” he said

Meanwhile, Chairman of the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN) Agus Pramusinto revealed that one of the challenges faced by Pancasila was division due to differences in political choices. Added to this is the spread of corruption cases, and the immoral acts of some police officers.

KASN, Agus added, also took part in maintaining the application of the merit system principle and overseeing the implementation of ASN’s basic values, code of ethics and code of conduct. This is at the same time to ensure that the ideology of Pancasila and nationalism, as well as the function of ASN as a unifying glue for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, are still carried out by all ASNs in Indonesia.

“The key is prevention and always reminding ASN to look again at their main duties and competencies as servants of the state.” he said.
