President Joko Widodo officially opened the 44th AIPA General Assembly in Jakarta on Monday (7/8). In his remarks President Joko Widodo invited all ASEAN members to continue to strengthen cooperation and solidarity in order to maintain peace and stability in the region. According to him, solidarity and mutual trust between ASEAN members and other stakeholders are considered important to achieve this peace and stability. President Jokowi believes that with strong solidarity, ASEAN can continue to play its central role in the region.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani hopes that the AIPA member parliament will be more solid by seeking similarities between ASEAN countries, and trying to minimize differences. Not only that, the chairman of the DPR RI also considered that the 44th AIPA Session was an opportunity for all parliaments in Southeast Asia to strengthen commitment in responding to various global and regional challenges and problems.
Therefore, at the AIPA Session this time, the DPR will also once again show their existence at the international level with all the eyes of the world turning to the country again. Deputy Chairman of the DPR’s Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Gilang Dhielafararez said that as part of Indonesia’s chairmanship at AIPA this year, his party has a very strong commitment to continue to provide the best as the host.
The commitment to be able to continue to provide the best is also a form of great responsibility on behalf of the country and also the people throughout Indonesia in an effort to make international events a success. He also invited all levels of society to actively participate in organizing the 44th AIPA Session through various forms and means.

Because later on, how successful Indonesia will be in holding international events will also be able to further enhance the image of the country on the world stage.

The moment when Indonesia became the 7th host was put to good use by the Indonesian Parliament so that our country could exert influence throughout the ASEAN region and even in the Asia-Pacific region. When viewed based on history, Indonesia is one of the foundingmembers of ASEAN. In that sense, its role here is indeed very important and many breakthroughs have been awaited by various parties.
There are four sessions at AIPA, including the Political Commission Session, the Economic Commission Session, the Social Commission Session, and the Organizational Commission Session. On this occasion, at the Political Commission Meeting, Indonesia will continue to strive to resolve the political conflict and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, then will strengthen cooperation for regional security and stability.
During the Economic Commission meeting, the DPRI RI encouraged regional economic connectivity and sustainable economic growth through accelerating green economic development. The Social Commission meeting will later fight for the improvement of the quality of human resources and labor protection to support the green economy agenda. And finally, the Organizational Commission Meeting, the DPR RI is committed to continuing to strengthen the AIPA institution as the only good parliamentary association in the Southeast Asian region. By presenting Indonesia’s best faces at the 44th AIPA Session, the DPR RI is optimistic that the implementation of this event will provide positive results for the Indonesian people and also the region.
