Chairman of the Bogor Regency KPU: Taruna STIN Milki has the right to vote in accordance with the KPU Law and Regulations
Bogor – State Intelligence College (STIN) cadets legally have the right to vote which is regulated in accordance with applicable laws and General Election Commission Regulations. This was emphasized by the Chairman of the Bogor Regency KPU, Muhammad Adi Kurnia.
This statement responded to the circulation of a short video which mentioned the mobilization of STIN cadets to vote in the 2024 elections.
“Regarding the voting rights of STIN cadets, they have the right to vote in accordance with the KPU Law and regulations. “That’s why we, the Bogor Regency KPU, handed over forms for the right to transfer to vote to STIN students,” emphasized Muhammad Adi Kurnia.
The chairman of the Bogor Regency KPU said that STIN cadets had completed original documents from the STIN institution regarding assignment letters, so that they could certainly have the right to vote.
Previously, on January 19 2024, STIN had coordinated with the Bogor Regency KPU to propose a move to select STIN cadets who were originally registered in their respective areas of residence, to move to the Bogor Regency area because they were on study assignments.
This is in accordance with the letter from the Chairman of the KPU to the Chairman of the Regency/City KPU number: 695/PL.01-SD/14/2023 dated 7 July 2023 regarding preparations for the preparation of the Additional Voter List (DPTb) domestically and abroad.
On this basis, the application for transferring to elect 1,020 STIN cadets was declared valid by the Bogor Regency KPU on February 12 2024.
Thus, STIN cadets have the right to vote and have carried out voting on February 14 2024 at the polling stations determined by the Bogor Regency KPU.
Meanwhile, in their clarification, STIN emphasized that they were only exercising their constitutional rights and exercising their right to vote, not carrying out intelligence operations as alleged.
The KPU and Bawaslu Bogor have also allowed and have no problem with the process of moving domicile carried out by STIN cadets, in accordance with applicable legal regulations, and have coordinated previously with STIN.
Therefore, the accusation of mobilizing STIN Cadets in the 2024 Election is a hoax and slander that is completely baseless.
