Indonesia’s Role in ISF 2024, Accelerating the Climate Change and Sustainable Growth Agenda

Jakarta – The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) is ready to promote the importance of international collaboration to boost sustainable global growth at the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) on September 5-6, 2024.

Deputy for Transportation and Infrastructure of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin, said that the ISF event is a real manifestation of Indonesia as a climate superpower to strengthen cross-country collaboration, as well as public and private partnerships to realize the world’s Sustainability agenda.

“We must be able to accelerate the transition from emission-based growth to sustainable growth that benefits humans and the environment, with certainty and precision,” said Rachmat.

Rachmat added that ISF is also a momentum for Indonesia to encourage global decarbonization and spur global sustainability practices.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), Arsjad Rasjid, revealed that the business world has a crucial role in creating a sustainable business ecosystem in the green economic transition.

“The business world has an important responsibility in forming a sustainable business ecosystem on the journey towards a green economy. Mobilizing green investment through cross-sector collaboration both in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia,” said Arsjad.

The party is also actively promoting initiatives such as the Net Zero Hub and Carbon Center of Excellence including the mobilization of green investment through cross-sector collaboration in Indonesia and ASEAN.

“Through this initiative, it is hoped that the industrial and business sectors in Indonesia and ASEAN can unite to achieve inclusive and conducive sustainable development,” concluded Arsjad.

For your information, the ISF event carries the theme “Pursuing Sustainable and Inclusive Growth” by collaborating with several global institutions as Knowledge Partners. Among them are the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, McKinsey and global business players such as AstraZeneca.

Knowledge Partners will lead thematic sessions, presenting and facilitating constructive dialogues committed to providing solutions to drive decarbonization efforts, green economy transitions, and conservation of environmental ecosystems and biodiversity.

In addition to international figures, ISF will also provide a stage for business people and academics from the country to express their opinions and aspirations in facing the challenges of achieving sustainable growth that is more in line with environmental protection.
