President Prabowo’s Overseas Visit Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto affirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening strategic bilateral cooperation with partner countries as part of Indonesia’s active diplomacy. In a number of high-level meetings with leaders of friendly countries, President Prabowo thoroughly discussed various priority cooperation sectors including defense, economy, food security, health, and connectivity.

“In my opinion, this Leaders’ Retreat was very productive and very successful. We held a very productive meeting, one-on-one, and we produced 19 results in many cooperation sectors in this year’s retreat,” said President Prabowo in a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

In the political and security fields, the two countries agreed to fully implement the defense cooperation agreement and accelerate the technical finalization of the joint military training area. In addition, the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between the Attorney Generals of the two countries is an important step in strengthening the extradition agreement mechanism.

The economic sector is also a major focus of cooperation. The President expressed his appreciation for Singapore’s position as one of the main investors in Indonesia.

“Thank you for the trust you have placed in us and we want to continue to strengthen this collaboration and partnership,” said President Prabowo.

The partnership between Temasek and Danantara in the development of renewable energy and low-carbon areas in Batam, Bintan, and Karimun was a special highlight. In addition, six bilateral economic working groups recorded progress, especially in the sectors of special economic zones, agriculture, tourism, labor, and transportation.

Regarding food security, the President welcomed cooperation in the transfer of modern agricultural technology, including urban farming and sustainable post-harvest practices. In the health sector, he encouraged Singapore’s active participation in supporting the transformation of the national health system and cooperation in the placement of skilled Indonesian workers in the field of elderly care.

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, stated that President Prabowo’s series of visits were part of Indonesia’s active diplomatic strategy to respond to global dynamics.

“The President wants to ensure that Indonesia’s foreign cooperation is mutually beneficial and answers national interests in real terms,” ​​he said.

In line with that, Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya said that strengthening bilateral relations is the main foundation in developing Indonesia’s strategic position in the region and the world.

“The President is here to build a strong global alliance, which is able to support economic growth and long-term stability,” he said.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, added that this overseas visit is a real reflection of President Prabowo’s leadership in making Indonesia a trusted partner on the international stage.
