JAKARTA – As Indonesia marks one year under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, government policies are widely regarded as consistently prioritizing the interests of the people. Defense and Security analyst from ISESS, Khairul Fahmi, said that the Prabowo-Gibran administration has implemented many pro-people policies, particularly in the defense and security sectors.

“The government has started to renew the defense industry significantly, for example through PT Pindad,” Fahmi said during a dialogue program on a national radio station.

Fahmi continued, besides defense, the government also launched the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which is continuously being improved. There is also notable progress in domestic industries, evident from the increasing competitiveness of local products against well-known brands.

According to Fahmi, the Prabowo-Gibran administration has been very effective in accommodating the voice of the Indonesian people. As an example, the government responded to the demands of protesters known as the 17+8 demands.

“There is a genuine intention from the government to meet the protesters’ demands. This should be appreciated as a positive way to resolve the issues at hand,” Fahmi said.

Another effort by the government to engage and absorb public aspirations is by opening spaces for dialogue, such as holding meetings with Generation Z and university students.

Although the government actively seeks to absorb public aspirations, Fahmi reminded that mitigation efforts are necessary to prevent further protests. This is especially important in the digital space, which is now highly accessible and fast-moving.

“The public is urged to verify the information they receive through social media. They should not accept everything at face value because not all information circulating on social media is true. Many Indonesians lack adequate digital literacy and tend to accept what they see online without question,” Fahmi emphasized.
