Thanks to the continued efforts and hard work of the security forces from the joint forces, the gunfight that occurred with the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) in Nduga managed to end with absolutely no casualties. Moreover, now even in the Kenyam Airport area the situation has returned to being conducive and back to normal.
KST continues to carry out a number of acts of terror that are very cruel, sadistic and brutal, which are completely inhumane in a number of areas in Papua. The latest news is that the separatist group carried out an attack on the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the Kenyam Airport area, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Regarding the attack carried out by KST Papua, the Head of Operations (Kaops) Damai Cartenz 2023, Police Chief Commissioner (Kombes Pol), Faizal Ramadhani confirmed and confirmed that there had been gunfire between the security forces and the terrorist group on Cenderawasih Earth.
He explained that the shooting that occurred at the TNI post in the Kenyam Airport area, Nduga, occurred at around 09:45 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT). Then, from the exchange of fire, up to 5 (five) gunshots were heard when security personnel including the Great Rapid Forces Command (Kopasgat) were about to enter to carry out security on the Kenyam Airport route.
Furthermore, the security forces emphatically denied the existence of an issue stating that it seemed as if the shooting that occurred resulted in casualties. In fact, at all when the shooting took place at the Kenyam Airport post, there were absolutely no casualties and now, the current situation at the location has returned to being conducive and normal.
Furthermore, even though the current situation at Kenyam Airport can be said to be very conducive and back to normal after there had been tension in the form of gunfire, the security forces from joint personnel including the TNI, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) still carrying out standby to be able to anticipate if for example things happen that are not wanted to be carried out by KST Papua again.
Meanwhile, the Papua Regional Police (Polda) also confirmed the same thing, that there were absolutely no fatalities in the shooting action between the TNI Kopasgat Task Force (Satgas) personnel from Pos Kenyam and the separatist group in Bumi Cenderawasih.
According to the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the chronology of the incident began when elite troop personnel from the Kopasgat TNI were suddenly shot at by KST Papua while carrying out security at Kenyam Airport.
In fact, at that time a team was heading to the runway area, and then suddenly from above 12 o’clock at the Airport Pam Control Post, gunshots were heard. After that, they heard gunshots, then the security forces containing 2 (two) Kopasgat Task Force teams immediately responded very quickly by returning fire.
So that armed contact was completely unavoidable between the security forces and the terrorist group in Indonesia’s easternmost province. However, because all of the security forces were solid and far more powerful, KST Papua immediately fled.
As clear evidence of how hard work the security forces continue to carry out from the joint personnel to continue to try to restore the situation and security and peace in the Land of Papua, knowing that the separatist group had fled, they immediately gave chase. The chase was carried out by immediately deploying security forces from joint personnel to the vicinity of the Kwari area.
It is very clear that indeed the security forces will take firm action against all series of crimes and criminal acts that have been intensified by KST Papua so far. The government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) will also give very severe punishment to those violators of human rights (HAM).
It is also known that Commission I of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) has given a very sharp look at all the series of acts of violence committed by terrorist and separatist groups on Cenderawasih Earth. The Chairman of Commission I of the DPR RI then also requested that a very firm attitude from all parties be needed to take action against them.
There was a shootout with KST Papua at Kenyam Airport because it started with how the separatist group tried to carry out an attack and then carried out their terrorist act again. However, with all the efforts and swift work carried out by all the security forces, there were no casualties at all and the area is now in a conducive condition and returning to normal.
