KST (separatist and terrorist group) leader Demius Magayang was caught by the Nemangkawi Task Force. This arrest is commendable because he is one of the leaders of KST, so it is hoped that this can stop the group’s activities.

KST is an accomplice of the OPM (Free Papua Organization) whose job it is to attack opponents, and it’s a shame for them that the officers are opponents, because they represent the Indonesian government. KST has become an enemy of the community because it often creates chaos and is determined to commit murder. Papuan civilians are antipathy to KST because their lives are not calm when they are attacked.

The apparatus worked hard to arrest every member of the KST, so that the community felt safe. Saturday, November 27, 2021, there was a KST leader who was picked up by the Nemangkawi Task Force, named Demius alias Temianus Magayang. He served as Commander of Operations XVI Yahukimo. When caught, Demius had to be paralyzed with a bullet that hit his leg so as not to escape, and was then treated at the Jayapura Hospital.

The Head of Public Relations of the Nemangkawi Task Force, Kombes Pol. Ahmad Musthofa, stated that Demius’ arrest was held in the vicinity of PT Indopapua, Dekai, Yahukimo. He was caught when a task force member disguised himself as a civilian. When caught, Demius along with 4 of his colleagues (fellow KST members).

Kombes Pol Musthofa continued, Demius was on the wanted list (DPO) because he was involved in many cases. First, severe mistreatment of KPUD Yahukimo Henry Jovinski staff. Second, the murder in May 2021 which resulted in 1 fatality. While the third, the killing of 2 members of the Pamrahwan task force at the end of Dekai Airport.

The arrest of a DPO like Demius is good news because he can no longer commit a crime, so that people will feel safe, especially in the Yahukimo area. Approaching the OPM’s birthday on December 1, KST members usually go down the mountain so they are worried about the safety of the residents. However, when the KST frontman is caught, the situation will be conducive.

The public appreciates the Nemangkawi Task Force who went undercover to arrest Demius, because the risk was very big. They could have been beaten back by KST members, and even lost their lives. However, the Task Force remains enthusiastic because Demius is a kingpin who must be arrested, so that people will no longer complain about KST.

The arrest of Demius is an achievement because the Task Force is increasingly diligent in combing every inch of Papua. Understandably, KST is guerrilla and its base is hidden, so arrests are also hindered by the geographical conditions on Earth of Cendrawasih which are virgin forest and hilly. When KST was caught, it was the fruit of good cooperation between members of the Nemangkawi Task Force.

After Demius was caught, an investigation and investigation could be carried out, what were the modes of the KSR members and where was the headquarters, because it was completely hidden. From the initial examination there was a surprising fact, where Demius was the village head in Yahukimo. How can a KST member become an official even at the village level? It’s really dangerous.

Demius was caught playing with village funds so that the money could be used to supply firearms and other KST needs. After recovering, he could be subject to multiple articles, namely the terrorism law and the corruption law, and his sentence could be much longer.

After Demius is caught, it is hoped that the next KST member will be arrested, because there is information from him. Hopefully more will be arrested so that KST and OPM quickly disband.

The arrest of the KST leader by the Nemangkawi Task Force is highly appreciated because he can be an important informant, and is already on the list of wanted people by the authorities. Hopefully in the future other members will also be caught or turn themselves in to the police or TNI.
