President Jokowi has announced to ban Lebaran homecoming activities. The policy is a form of Government’s firmness to break the chain of transmission of Covid-19 to various regions in Indonesia.

Corona virus can attack anyone, a group of parents or who have a history of diseases such as lung disease or diabetes mellitus is the group most vulnerable to this outbreak.

The migrants who force themselves to go home, does not mean that he is free from risk, especially if during the trip to my hometown, there are many passengers with a variety of history.

Even though our body is healthy, it does not mean that we are safe from the corona virus, because it could be that we who are healthy will become carriers (carriers of disease) that allow it to spread to others.

This certainly becomes the basis for the government not to allow Indonesian people to travel to their homeland. Previously Indonesian President Joko Widodo only banned going home for ASN, but now the ban applies to many people.

The decision was made by Jokowi when he opened a limited meeting at the Merdeka Palace through a video conference on Tuesday (21/4).

The policy was taken to minimize the movement of people from the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) regions which is the co-19 epicenter to the regions.

Statistically, it turns out that there are still 24 percent of residents who insist on returning home. This of course will be dangerous and will automatically add to the list of ODP, PDP or positive positions.

With the president’s decision related to the ban on going home, he also requested that his ministers be able to prepare everything related to the ban on going home. Also included in the provision of social safety nets to prevent people going home because of economic reasons.

This homecoming ban will also be assisted by the police, where the National Police have plans to block out routes in and out of each region.

Head of Ops Korlantas Polri Kombes Benyamin said, if it has become a ban, of course we must carry out and secure according to the President’s order.

The plan is that the insulation be set aside for private vehicles such as motorcycles and cars, then public transportation. As for the food trucks, fuel and the like get exceptions so that the economy continues to run.

Road placement will be carried out on both toll roads and arteries. Officers will remain on alert at every point that has been determined to handle people who are determined to go home.

In the midst of this co-19 pandemic, besides being prudent, discipline is also needed to comply with all the regulations, such as working at home and always wearing a mask when outside the home.

A disciplined attitude to comply with these regulations certainly not only have an impact on others, but also have a positive impact on yourself, one of which is minimal risk of exposure.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) proposed that the plan to impose sanctions for people who were desperate to go back and forth during the covid-19 pandemic, This was none other than the aim of breaking the chain of the spread of the corona virus.

Sanctions that are planned to be given are related to health quarantine Article 93 of Law No. 6 of 2018 concerning health quarantine.

The plan is that this homecoming ban will be effective as of Friday 24 April 2020.

This ban on going home will not allow traffic for people to go in and out of and to the area, especially Jabodetabek or what is known as agglomeration.

On a different occasion, Deputy Chairman of Commission V Ridwan Bae, requested that the public not interpret negativity as a policy.

Prohibition of going home indeed needs to be done, this is because the crowd of people who are not as usual, is something that is very dangerous if people continue to force themselves to return to their hometowns.

Of course Eid without meeting with family has become something strange. Even so, it does not mean that the love of the family makes it reckless to go home. There is no choice but to comply with the protocol by command.
