The Indonesian government should cut red tape or bureaucracy of education if want to increase the quality of education in Indonesia. It was announced by the British Ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik.

Moazzam said current regulations make it difficult for universities in the UK to open a branch in Indonesia or simply cooperating with universities in Indonesia.

“The Indonesian government should examine its policy. Therefore, they should improve the quality of higher education appropriately. We are ready to work together to support the quality of education in Indonesia,” said Moazzam

Although it is difficult, Moazzam mention there are already some cooperation between the UK and Indonesian universities at this time. One of the programs being run is the Newton program.

This program is a research program that Indonesian researchers collaborate with British researchers. He hoped, with a partnership like this can attract lecturers or students of English, to teach or study in Indonesia.
