The Corruption Eradication Commission ( KPK ) is currently investigating Lukas Enembe in Papua. The community needs to oversee the performance of the KPK to enforce the law and eradicate corruption so that Papua’s development can run optimally.
Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect by the KPK since last September, but he has not fulfilled the summons twice. According to the rules, a forced pick-up is entitled, even though the suspect is far from Jakarta. However, in the case of Lukas, the pick-up was canceled due to maintaining the conduciveness of the people there.
Since Lukas became a suspect, hundreds of Papuans who became his sympathizers have been guarding his house in Jayapura. They are like fierce security guards and are on constant alert, some even carry traditional weapons. This guard made the pick-up canceled, which was feared to lead to riots and casualties among the people.
Therefore, the KPK decided to conduct an investigation in Papua, directly at the house of Lukas Enembe. He also agreed to it, and was willing to be examined at his home, because he reasoned he was still having a stroke and heart disease. Previously, the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri had seen firsthand the situation of Lukas Enembe and he brought a message that Lukas would like to be investigated if it was held in Papua.
KPK chairman Firli Bahuri stated that he was grateful to the Papuan people, who had welcomed the efforts of the legal apparatus to investigate Governor Lukas Enembe in Jayapura, Papua.
Firli continued, the examination of Lukas Enembe is still being carried out . In the case of Lukas Enembe, he admitted that he was sick and would get worse if he forced himself to fly to Jakarta. To overcome this, the KPK will bring a team of independent doctors from IDI to Papua.
Before being examined by KPK investigators, Lukas Enembe was first examined by an independent team of doctors from IDI. After confirming that he was physically and mentally fit enough, the KPK investigators continued the examination.
The team of doctors from IDI will directly examine whether Lukas Enembe really has a heart attack and a severe stroke, or vice versa. If Luke Enembe lies, many people will be hurt because he has harmed many parties. First, the people who are guarding around Lukas will be very disappointed because the person they are defending turns out to be lying and not seriously ill. Second, Papuans are also hurt and dizzy because since Lukas has been sick, he has not come to work, so that administrative services at the Papua Provincial Government Office are disrupted.
Therefore, all people will oversee the performance of the KPK investigation team in conducting an examination of Lukas Enembe. Not only Papuans , but also all Indonesian citizens . They are curious about how the Luke case will be resolved, because they hope that a corrupt person will be severely punished, and the law in Indonesia will be enforced to the highest degree.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata, stated that the decision to examine Lukas Enembe in Papua was the result of a coordination meeting across state institutions, which was attended by the KPK, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, representatives from the TNI and Polri, as well as from the Papuan Police.
In a sense, the decision to examine Lukas Enembe in Papua was not purely a KPK decision but the result of a meeting between state institutions. The coordination meeting was held because of Lukas Enembe’s condition, who was still sick and surrounded by his very militant supporters. The final result of the meeting stated that an inspection would be carried out in Papua, in order to protect many people from possible conflicts during the forced pick-up.
The Indonesian people escorted the KPK Team in the examination of Lukas Enembe, so that they were completely objective. The examination was indeed carried out in Papua, because he was still sick. But that does not mean that Luke is privileged by the KPK. Instead, the inspection was moved there because they wanted to minimize conflicts between the security forces and the residents when they were forced to pick them up to Jakarta.
