The G20 presidency is believed to be able to create 33,000 jobs. With the opening of these new jobs, it is hoped that Productive Resources in Indonesia can be absorbed optimally.
Indonesia will host the implementation of the G20 Presidency next year. Many positive impacts will be obtained from the implementation of this international event.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said one of them was the creation of tens of thousands of jobs. Because, in the event there will be many meetings in various regions in Indonesia.
At least 150 meetings will be held in this event in 19 cities. The event will be attended by more than 18,000 delegates from all countries in the world.
Therefore, apart from creating jobs, Indonesia can also increase domestic consumption by up to Rp 1.7 trillion. So that this can help increase the national GDP up to IDR 7.4 trillion.
Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that at the G20 Presidency, there will be three main pillars that will be discussed. The first pillar is to promote a productive and balanced global economy, including access to vaccines and the application of digital transformation, especially for MSMEs.
The second pillar is to increase the stability of the financial and monetary system, which is even bigger and stronger so that it has readiness to face another pandemic. This is the most important topic to address the risk of excessive capital volatility for Indonesia.
The third pillar discusses how to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth. This is important to improve the performance of the world economy.
Sri Mulyani emphasized that she believes Indonesia can achieve sustainable growth by promoting sustainable finance and assessing the environmental impact on financial access while promoting financial inclusion.
Sri Mulyani will oversee the priority agendas of the financial track (finance track) by focusing on handling the latest global issues.
In his presentation, he emphasized that exit policy is an important matter and will be highly discussed. Exit Policy will reduce extraordinary and definitely unsustainable macro policy interventions in stages and in coordination, so that economic growth in each country and global economic growth will continue or be sustainable.
The Minister of Finance emphasized that the G20 will be a very important forum for all policy makers to be able to discuss and design how to maintain the economic recovery process. In addition, addressing new emerging challenges such as high commodity price inflation, as well as supply disruptions.
He assessed that the G20 also played a very important role when discussing the Covid-19 pandemic, especially related to too many low-income countries. Because, currently many low-income countries are suffering from the pandemic.
One of the difficulties that are difficult to stem is the increasing number of layoffs and the increasing number of job seekers. Entering a new normal period after the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Labor Organization (ILO) emphasized the importance of job creation to respond to the increasing number of unemployed.
According to the ILO Jakarta Skills Development Program Manager Tauvik Muhammad, Covid-19 will increase unemployment in Indonesia, which even before the pandemic was 20.4% or already quite high when compared to the global average.
The challenge in creating job opportunities during the new normal, namely balancing policies in the health, economic and social sectors, can only be done if Indonesia has succeeded in flattening the curve of the spread of the corona virus.
Tauvik also said that job creation is a must to accommodate Indonesia’s demographic bonus which is estimated to occur in 2030, when the number of productive age population is more than the elderly or school age population. Of course, this demographic bonus must be utilized as well as possible, otherwise it can become a demographic disaster that has the potential to trigger social conflict. Of course we hope that the G20 forum which will be held next year will not only be about community, but also actions and policies that can build trust for the world.
With the theme “recover toghether, recover stronger”, we hope that the theme is not just a jargon, but also a shared responsibility to be realized. So that this event will be able to give birth to ideas that are useful for Indonesia, especially in the field of job creation.
