G20 Summit as Momentum for Electric Vehicle Ecosystem Innovation
The holding of the G20 Summit ( KTT ) forum in Bali is the best momentum to be able to intensify the innovation of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the world, especially in Indonesia. This is in order to make an energy transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Officially, Indonesia is hosting a series of events for the G20 Presidency from December 1, 2021 to the implementation of the G20 Summit on November 15-16, 2022. Quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Finance, members of the G20 Forum are spread from countries in the European continent to Asia. . This forum represents at least 80 percent of the world’s economy, 75 percent of international trade, and more than 60 percent of the world’s population.
Due to Indonesia itself being the host of this prestigious international event, as well as because many countries with influential economies in the world were present, the Ministry of Finance stated that the G20 Summit was a very important momentum to determine many global policies, including the transition. energy and support the innovation of the electric vehicle ecosystem.https://ddd309f5bfc0157f854705bc5241d3bf.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-39/html/container.html

In general, the G20 Forum has a variety of activities, such as ministerial level meetings, working group meetings, dialogue forum meetings, until the climax is the G20 Summit on 15 -16 November 2022 in Bali Province . One of the main preparations and innovations that will be displayed by the Government of Indonesia during the G20 Summit is the use of electric vehicles for all heads of state and delegates present in Bali .
This is not only because Indonesia really wants to show a good image in front of all G20 member countries , but Indonesia itself wants to prove that in its leadership as the G20 Presidency , this nation is able to initiate world energy transition efforts so as not to rely too much on fossil energy continuously. .
How not, because if you continue to use fossil-based energy, of course there will be no sustainable use because of its very limited nature, not to mention the processing of fossil energy turns out to produce a lot of carbon dioxide which will obviously create a lot of emissions for the environment and not just environmentally unfriendly. , but at a certain point will also be dangerous for humans.
Therefore, taking advantage of the momentum of the G20 in Bali , Indonesia as the host really wants to show its great commitment to the transition process towards new and renewable energy (EBT) because it has also become one of the focuses of the world lately.
Quoted from the official website of the Ministry of State Secretariat, electric vehicles presented by the government are buses, cars, and motorcycles. All of these vehicles are intended for transportation purposes during the G20 Summit . Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Ma’ruf Amin also said that the use of electric vehicles during the G20 Summit in Bali was the starting point for the massive use of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
So back again, not only to look good in front of the international community, but in the future, all projects regarding the use of EBT, where one of the starting points is derived from the G20 event will also be carried out on a massive scale in Indonesia.
To that end, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin added that several facilities and infrastructure, such as the General Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) facility which was built in preparation for the G20 Summit , will not be revoked at all even though the G20 implementation has been completed.
In fact, according to him, the SPKLU will be continued and it is hoped that it will be able to start a new life in Bali , including being a starting point for the process of using electric cars in the country. On the other hand, the Secretary of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Susyanto stated that PLN has also prepared everything regarding electricity, including starting from adding power to a mitigation plan if for example there is an electricity supply problem in Bali .
Susyanto added that the SPKLU itself has been completed and is very ready to be used up to 99 percent, and only one percent of it will continue to be worked on and completed. Not only that, but to support the smooth running of the G20 Presidency , PLN has also doubled electricity in Bali .
Susyanto’s statement was also confirmed by the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, who added that PLN plans to relocate the power plant from Gresik to Pesanggaran, Bali . Regarding the operational reliability of the system, he added that everything had reached 100 percent.
The energy transition is indeed a crucial and urgent thing to do in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and limit the earth’s temperature below 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2050 according to the Paris Agreement. Strengthening an equitable energy transition requires sustainable and innovative funding.
So that with the holding of the G20 Summit in Bali , it is certainly a very good momentum in order to encourage continued innovation of the electric vehicle ecosystem for the success of the energy transition, the impact of which will be efforts to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
