Incumbent Candidate Is Problematic?

CIDISS. Based on data from the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), incumbent candidates dominate the sole candidate in the contestation of the 2018 Regional Head Election. In fact, there are candidate incumbent nominate themselves in other areas because it has 2 lead period, so can not run again in the area where he leads.

The dominance of the sole candidate by incumbent is very possible because incumbent candidates have the ability to get the support of political parties in large numbers. The existence of this causes other candidates can not compete because there is no party that wants to support the candidate. Furthermore, this is one of the main factors causing the election with a single candidate.

In addition to the above problems, incumbent candidates are also often equated with candidates who are full of corruption. In fact, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) just to give warning to the candidates in the Regional Head Elections Serentak 2018 so that they should not deal with acceptance in any form. If the candidates remain in touch with the admissions issue, then it may result in a case of corruption or gratification.

This case is increasingly becoming a hot issue in the conduct of regional head elections because there are already a number of names published by the KPK due to legal cases, or even suspects. If this is not addressed, it is feared that it will affect the elec- troncy of paslon and become a bad example in the implementation of democracy in Indonesia. However, this has become the attention of the government and is being endeavored to be completed soon. As the organizer of the 2018 democracy party, the government will not remain silent and seek solutions that benefit all parties involved.
