The first debate between the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair has taken place. The two candidate pairs, Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin and Prabowo Subianto- Sandiaga Uno have demonstrated their skills and there has been a heated debate between the two pairs of candidates. It is not difficult to judge who is superior in the first presidential and vice presidential debates debate, because it can be seen as a whole Jokowi-Ma’ruf pair has mastered the debate theme namely Law, Human Rights, Corruption and Terrorism and appears more concrete, calm and not abstract in applying vision and their mission. When compared to the Prabowo-Sandiaga camp that only relied on rhetoric, abstracts, it seemed panic, and stunned when responding to a number of critical questions from the opposing camp.

In the debate, the issues raised regarding the issue of equal rights for diffable groups, for example, Jokowis concretely stated that the government had and would continue to make it happen, for example giving equal bonuses to Asian Paragames achievers with last year’s Asian Games athletes. When Jokowi explained the concrete steps, the Prabowo-Sandiaga camp actually gave answers that seemed out of context. The two presidential candidates made economic issues a solution to overcome the problem of discrimination for people with disabilities and even as a solution to overcome terrorism. Even though related to the issue of terrorism, the most recent research shows the fact that this is not a welfare case because a number of perpetrators even come from middle-class families.

Paslon 01 also feels far superior about the topic of corruption, which Jokowi sees corruption as a matter of mentality, because it must be done systematically. While Prabowo actually wants to raise the salaries of officials as a solution to overcome corruption. He nullified the fact that many officials who were entangled in corruption were those who had fantastic assets. In addition, Jokowi also gave an example of how he built an anti-KKN culture in his family environment. This is evident from Jokowi’s children who did not pass the CPNS test and no one played in the state project. It was precisely in the opposite camp, it was very clear Prabowo as the general chairman of the Gerindra party had a role in signing the passing of former corruption prisoners as party candidates.

In the legal field as well, we see together in the debate that Jokowi offers concrete solutions related to overlapping legal regulations between the center and the regions by making a kitchen for legal drafting and not just gathering legal experts and making synchronization. The solution is better when compared to Prabowo’s presidential statement regarding the president’s highest leadership in law enforcement or the chief of law enforcement, because actually a President is indeed the highest leader in law enforcement and is not a new issue at this time.

Meanwhile, Prabowo’s solution to legal issues only increases the salary of bureaucrat bureaucrats through a tax ratio of 16 percent to suppress corruption, which is considered to make people miserable because of tax increases. Prabowo’s plan will attract large amounts of tax from the people to prosper civil servants who will indirectly make the people suffer more. Since the beginning, Prabowo’s vision of corruption has been very inconsistent. Prabowo said he would punish corruptors by putting them on remote islands and employing them in continuous sand mines, but on the other hand he defended six former Gerindra candidates who were corruptors by saying that the corruption he considered was not much. It’s ironic to see this fact.
