Jokowi Visits BIN’s Humanitarian Aid Post

Cianjur — The State Intelligence Agency (BIN) humanitarian aid post has been established since the first day the earthquake hit Cianjur, West Java. The command post, which was established in Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, also has very adequate facilities. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today had the opportunity to directly inspect the BIN Humanitarian Post to provide assistance and interact directly with earthquake survivors, Thursday (8/12/2022) morning.

During the visit of the four number one people in Indonesia to the areas affected by the Cianjur earthquake, the President expressed his appreciation to BIN for providing adequate protection, services and activities. The trauma healing activities at the BIN Command Post for children who were victims of the disaster were also one that Jokowi greatly appreciated. Apart from that, the President also provided assistance to residents in evacuation tents.

The President had a dialogue with a number of refugees and asked about meeting their needs. There are 303 refugees occupying the BIN Humanitarian Assistance Post. The President also provided a number of assistance to the refugees and explained that aid would be distributed for the relocation of houses of affected residents.

“Yes, today it will be distributed, 10 million, 25 million, 50 million, to residents for home repairs, the amount depends on data on house damage,” said Jokowi. The President also gave his great appreciation to the BIN Humanitarian Assistance Post for providing very decent and clean facilities, up to adequate toilet facilities. “All of you are healthy, eat, I hope you are all healthy,” he added.

During this visit President Jokowi was also accompanied by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil; Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki, Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy; Head of BNPB, Lt. Gen. Suharyanto; Deputy Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Agus Subiyanto; Deputy II BIN Maj. Gen. TNI Edmil Nurjamil; Pangdam III/Slw TNI Maj. Gen. Kunto Arief Wibowo; West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Suntana; West Java Kabinda, Brigadier General Ruddy Prasemilsa.

The President also had the opportunity to listen to the information conveyed by the Research and Development Center for BIN Dr. Armi Susandi, MT, which was conveyed at the BIN Command Post, there was also a real time update of information about earthquakes contained in the Disaster Intelligence System (SIBe). “Pak President, SIBe is able to map disasters quickly and accurately, analyze and obtain information on the needs of refugees, so it is very helpful for channeling assistance to mitigate the impact after a disaster occurs in an appropriate manner,” said Armi.

BIN’s Deputy VII for Communication and Information, Prabawa Ajie, said that during this visit the President was quite impressed with the trauma healing activities provided by the BIN Post for children, the President even took the time to interact with children whose legs were broken by the earthquake.

“Pak President was very impressed and gave his extraordinary appreciation, one of which is the MCK facilities which are also very clean as a result of BIN’s collaboration with the Ministry of PUPR. Clean water and health facilities are also considered very adequate,” said the spokesperson for the Head of BIN. Meanwhile, the establishment of the BIN Post will follow the Disaster Emergency Response set by the Government, until December 20, 2022.

“The existence of the BIN Post follows the Government’s Disaster Response, but we will always try our best to provide the best, starting from environmental cleanliness, trauma healing, to other positive activities for all earthquake survivors,” he concluded.
