OPM throws tantrums again. This time they injured civilians in Nduga, causing casualties. The OPM atrocities have been going on for years, angering the public. They want the separatist organization to be dissolved immediately so that it is no longer anxious.
Peace in Papua is tainted by the OPM’s annoying behavior. They have repeatedly terrorized residents by spreading hoax photos, carrying out shootings, and attacking police stations. This separatist organization deliberately terrorized so that their request to liberate Papua was obeyed.
January 21, 2021, another atrocity occurred in Nduga, precisely in the Kenyam area. Two residents were attacked by OPM members, namely Stevanus Mella and Benny Kurniawan. Unfortunately Stavenus could not be saved and eventually died. This incident occurred at 22.00 WITA, in front of SMAN 1 Kenyam.
The OPM atrocities made the public even more antipathic. They totally disapproved of the proposal for an independent Papua, and wondered why the OPM was so keen to fight for it. Why should you fulfill your ambition to make your tribal siblings lose their lives?
The community is anti-OPM because they have repeatedly committed atrocities that have resulted in casualties. Prior to this ill-fated incident, there was the burning of an airplane belonging to a missionary group, shooting at an army car, and attacks on workers in Intan Jaya. The OPM is truly troubling and is increasingly hated by Papuan civilians.
Alfredo Kway, a Papuan native student, stated that he did not agree with the OPM because he wanted peace on Cendrawasih Earth. Moreover, over the years, there have been armed clashes between OPM and the authorities, which have resulted in many victims. So that peace will not be realized if the OPM has not been dissolved.
Alfredo also wonders why there is still a stigma from some people outside Papua, who think that OPM is the brother of civilians. It is true that they are tribal siblings. However, due to frequent atrocities and riots, civil society hates OPM and KKSB.
Unfortunately, when a member of the KKSB (which is affiliated with the OPM) prioritizes the safety of their citizens, he is even called a traitor. Because they are considered more pro to the Indonesian government than OPM. Even though he only wanted his citizens to be safe and not become victims of KKSB atrocities.
OPM also has the heart to invite young teenagers to be recruited as KKSB members. In fact, by becoming a new cadre, their future will be damaged. Instead of studying in junior high or high school, they are instead persuaded to guerrilla from forest to forest. As well as arms training. Only for the sake of status and can be said to be cool.
In addition, the OPM also forces the public to fly the Morning Star flag. Moreover, ahead of their birthday on December 1. OPM members will go down the mountain and terrorize, and spread Morning Star flags ranging in size from mini to large.
With facts like these, the elimination of OPM is a priority. All members of the TNI always carry out sweeping to remote areas. So that OPM and KKSB members are caught and no one causes riots anymore. The OPM’s actions cannot be reproduced anymore because they committed atrocities to kill civilians.
When an OPM member surrenders, he is guaranteed to be safe and will not be tortured. The reason is because he has repented and promised not to repeat his actions. In fact, he could become an informant for the authorities, so that they could carry out further investigations.
When the OPM commits another atrocity, the people are immediately hurt. The reason is because this time there were casualties from civilians. OPM must be eradicated to its roots because it always disturbs and creates chaos in Papua.
