The Covid-19 pandemic situation, which has been for more than 1 year, has forced people to adapt to something new. This pandemic is testament to the magnitude of the effects of the unseen. The economic sector has slumped, the health sector is at a loss, and even the unemployment rate is presumably increasing because companies reduce production due to the difficulty of raw materials. However, this pandemic is forcing people to be resilient.
As the old saying goes, a master sailor is not born from a calm sea, so that if a person has gone through a crisis, he will become a great and resilient human being.
Even though the world is experiencing a serious crisis, everyone can remain resilient in a pandemic condition.
The Covid-19 pandemic seems to have forced many national agendas to postpone, one of which is the great celebration of the XX PON 2021. Even though it has to be postponed from what was originally to be held in 2020 and postponed in 2021, this event of course must be a common concern.
The chairman of the Central KONI, Major General (Purn) Suwarno, asked the TNI, especially the XVII / Cenderawasih Regional Military Command to help make the PON XX national event in 2021 a success which will be held in Papua.

He and the PB PON XX Committee will hold a meeting with the Pangdam and Kodam officials involved in the XX PON in Papua to make the multinational event a success.
Previously, President Jokowi had reminded that PON in Papua is not just a sports competition. But PON is a common arena to celebrate diversity, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and an arena to strengthen unity and integrity.
Regarding the development of supporting infrastructure, Jokowi asked that this infrastructure be useful not only during PON.
Jokowi hopes that the community can take advantage of the infrastructure built in the long term.
So, do not let the sports infrastructure that have been built at a significant expense not be utilized and become damaged after the implementation of the PON.
PON XX and Peparnas XVI in Papua are certainly expected to have a direct impact on the Papuan economy. With the arrival of thousands of athletes and contingents from various provinces, this of course will have an impact on increasing Papua’s economic growth.
