Strengthening Bilateral Ties Indonesia-Timor Leste

President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo has visited Timor Leste to strengthen future relations between the two countries and reiterated the readiness of Indonesia to become a major partner of development of Timor Leste.
In Dili, the President met with Timor Leste President Taur Matan Ruak and Prime Minister of Timor Leste Maria De Araujo, to discuss the strengthening of cooperation in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development as well as a shared commitment to accelerate the completion of the border issue.
In addition, the President also signed five Memorandum of Understanding, which is about cooperation of youth and sports, archival cooperation, cooperation in climatology and geophysics, cooperation related to search and rescue, as well as energy cooperation, petroleum and mineral resources.
The Government of Timor Leste also confers Stars Top Service Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Grande Colar de Ordem de Timor Leste to the President Joko Widodo.
Accompanying the president on a state visit this time, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Nasution, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung.
