The highest appreciation should be given to President Joko Widodo who has officially designated Papua Province as the host of the XX National Sports Week in 2021.
With the opportunity to be the host which is an honor for the people and the Government of Papua Province, it is clear that it contains the trust, a million hopes, and a number of noble ideals from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia that want to be realized together.
The enthusiasm and great thought of the Papua Provincial Government in preparing itself to host it, has been seen from the various efforts that have been carried out gradually and continuously through preparatory steps.
Among them, most of the venues in the XX PON implementation plan are new buildings such as the Papua Bangkit Stadium in Jayapura Regency and the Mimika Sport Complex in Timika which have just been completed. This proves that Papua is ready to host the XX PON in 2021.
The sun that we have known has always risen from the East, so by looking at the seriousness of the Papua Provincial Government in preparing to host a sporting party, we also have confidence that Indonesia’s rise from the pandemic originated in Papua.
Since the pandemic strikes, Indonesia has never given up, even the enthusiasm continues to burn to continue the vision of Indonesia’s Maju mission. PON XX Papua is one proof of the nation’s resilience in the midst of a crisis due to the pandemic.
Our prayers together that the implementation of the XX PON in 2021 can support the realization of an Awakened and Independent Papua, let’s build national resilience during the pandemic by making PON XX Papua a success.
