Jakarta – The Main Expert of the Presidential Staff Office who is also a Researcher on Papuan Issues, Theo Litaay said, the moment side event of the W20 which was held in West Papua would be a place for a positive Papua campaign in the eyes of the world. Through W20, the world will know that Indonesia has done a lot of welfare in Papua.
“So far, we have carried out welfare activities in Papua to overcome poverty and other problems,” said Litaay in a dialogue on Elshinta radio, Wednesday (23/2/2022).
Litaay continued, one example of welfare that has been carried out by the government is the achievement of Papuan youths as millennial farmers. This program is carried out in several districts in Papua. This program is an effort by the Indonesian government in food security.
Regarding security issues during W20, according to Litaay, the government has learned from the implementation of the National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.
“Because basically people want profitable activities. For that, the people in Papua will be good hosts. They are part of the historic event of the G20 meeting,” he said.
Litaay continued, he was sure that the TNI-Polri were ready for all possibilities that might occur in Papua. The reason is that Papua is actually safe for the implementation of national or international events. In addition, through the W20 moment, the message will be conveyed that Indonesia is safe, healthy, and has great opportunities for business.
“We hope that this will be a milestone which will later become a spirit for progress and development in Papua. W20 provides benefits, namely the existence of development activities in Papua, as well as increased investment,” he said.
Litaay reminded that Papua has young people with great potential. This is the reason why President Joko Widodo prioritizes Papuan youth. For this reason, this is an opportunity for young Papuans to develop the economic potential of their homeland.
“Basically we are trying to strengthen the potential that exists in Papua. We describe collaboration to build the land of Papua towards prosperity. The existence of this activity shows that Papua is safe,” he concluded.
