Jakarta – The latest policy issued by the Indonesian Government regarding the write-off of MSME debt, which is stated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 47 of 2024, has received various appreciations, one of which is from the Gerindra Party Faction in the Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency DPRD.
The Government Regulation signed on November 5, 2024, provides a breath of fresh air for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those engaged in vital sectors such as agriculture, plantations, animal husbandry, fisheries, and maritime affairs.
This policy makes it easier for MSMEs to write off bad debts that they are unable to pay due to various obstacles, including the impact of disasters and other economic difficulties.
“The Gerindra Party Faction appreciates the issuance of this government regulation,” said Secretary of Commission II, PPU DPRD, Sujiati in her official statement.
“We see this policy as a concrete step that is greatly needed by the community, especially for MSMEs who are in difficult conditions, and the agriculture and fisheries sectors that have been the mainstay of our regional economy,” he continued.
Three main points related to this policy are of concern to the Gerindra Faction. First, this debt cancellation policy is directed at communities affected by disasters and MSMEs that have matured and are no longer able to repay their debts. Vital sectors such as agriculture and fisheries that are facing extraordinary pressure post-pandemic are one of the priority sectors.
Second, this policy sets the amount of debt that can be written off with a maximum limit of IDR 500 million for businesses and IDR 300 million for individuals. “With this limitation, we hope that more affected MSMEs can feel the benefits,” continued Sujiati.
The Gerindra Faction also reminded that this policy be implemented selectively and on target. Sujiati emphasized the importance of the role of related agencies in ensuring that this assistance can be provided to parties who are truly entitled and in need.
“We hope that the implementation of this policy can run well and transparently, so that aid really reaches those in need,” said Sujiati.
In the view of the Gerindra Faction, this policy is real evidence of the government’s commitment to supporting the MSME sector, which has been the backbone of the Indonesian economy. With this policy, it is hoped that MSMEs can return to operating optimally and provide positive contributions to regional and national economic growth.
