Advocates and lecturers have filed a lawsuit against the figure of Rocky Gerung. This was the aftermath or result of his expression which was considered to have insulted and demeaned President Joko Widodo and showed his own quality as a political observer who simply did not have the civility of communication.
Lawsuit after lawsuit continues to be carried out by many parties and elements of society from various backgrounds against Rocky Gerung because he is considered to have made hate speech and also incited the public and is suspected of having insulted the Head of State by using utterly uncivilized and inappropriate words to be presented in public. public and digital space.
After a number of social organizations (ormas) to a team of attorneys from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) reported to political observers as a result of his actions and words which were considered to be very demeaning to the dignity, degree and dignity of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) , Joko Widodo (Jokowi), now a lawsuit is being filed by an advocate as well as a lecturer.
It is known that lawyer David Tobing filed a lawsuit against Rocky Gerung in the aftermath of the alleged insult to the Head of State that he had stated. In fact, the lawsuit filed by an advocate and lecturer has now been officially registered online with code number: JKT.SEL-02082023DPY at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel).
Not only because he said an insulting word to the Head of State who until now is still legitimate as the leader of the nation as well as being the Head of Government, but the philosopher is also suspected of having initiated the Grand Consolidation event of the Action of a Million Workers by mobilizing a number of masses entitled people power which will will be held on August 10, 2023.
It is clear that the invitation that has come out of the mouth of a former lecturer at the University of Indonesia (UI) is something that is suspected of being an attempt to spread provocation and also incite the Indonesian people at large, especially since the expression was issued on social media or digital space which is a public space so that allows all people in the country to access it and has the potential to be provoked too.
Furthermore, with Rocky Gerung’s use of a completely inappropriate word, namely referring to President Joko Widodo by using the word ‘stupid bastard’, this is considered by many as a term that falls into the category of insulting the Head of State. In fact, it will cause a lot of other negative impacts, not only will damage the dignity of a person, but also damage the good name of the entire Indonesian nation itself.
Of course, the utterly inappropriate utterances that came from the mouth of the 64-year-old man are also things that seriously injure the image of the Indonesian nation itself, because so far the country is known to the world as a nation that continues to uphold hospitality and values. culture to decency and decency.
However, the existence of a public figure who freely violates or violates all social norms that already exist and is agreed upon by all elements of the nation, especially when he utters these inappropriate things in public, will of course cause many other negative impacts.
In fact, insult itself is a word that has a very negative charge and also violates many things, such as containing violations of the law, violating decency, decency and public order, and the defendant can be disqualified for having committed an unlawful act against fellow citizens, especially since this made to the Head of State.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (Waketum PAN), Viva Yoga Mauladi also considered that the words uttered by Rocky Gerung actually delegitimized himself as a figure who does not exist and has no intellect at all, very inversely proportional to his branding so far. as a common sense scholar.
In fact, in a country that adheres to and upholds the application of the principles of democracy as in Indonesia, the role of the opposition to be able to criticize the government is indeed very good. However, of course, the giving of criticism should be done with constructive criticism, not only filled with indignation which actually turns into an attempt at blasphemy and even insults.
The statement that was put forward by Rocky Gerung was then assessed as a completely uncivilized form of statement and actually showed how bad the quality of political observers was because they were unable to provide constructive criticism.
Until now, the allegations of insulting the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, have had a very long tail, especially towards the figure of political observer Rocky Gerung. He has even been sued by a number of parties from various backgrounds, elements of society, including advocates and lecturers who consider him completely uncivilized.
