Firmly Eradicating Drugs, BNN Experts: Astacita is President Prabowo’s Special Message for the Good of the Country
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto is very committed to ridding this country of the drug problem. Through Astacita, the President’s firmness in eradicating drugs to the roots is reflected.
This was said by the Coordinator of the Expert Group of the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI), Commissioner General of Police. (Ret.) Drs. Ahwil Luthan, S.H., MBA., M.M, in an interview with Radio Elshinta, in Jakarta (11/18).
“President Prabowo with Asta Citanya formed a Task Force that truly coordinates to overcome drugs by involving all existing ministries so that no one is indifferent to this case,” said Ahwil Luthan.
According to him, narcotics is a problem that is inversely proportional between health and law enforcement. The number of drug addicts in Indonesia is quite high, so rehabilitation is one of the efforts to save addicts from the shackles of drugs.
“If someone or a child is affected by drugs, they are not dealers, but victims who must be cured,” he said.
Ahwil also explained that there are three patterns of drug control, namely supply reduction or eradication through reduction, demand reduction or prevention through reduction and Treatment and rehabilitation.
“Demand reduction can be done with good prevention through cooperation between the ministries of religion and education. So, prevention does not always have to be carried out only by law enforcement,” added Ahwil.
In addition, he continued, there must be improvements to the system and proper control so that drug distribution, especially those controlled from prisons, does not continue to continue. Therefore, the President formed a task force with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as its leader.
“The current leadership is very strict, anyone who is related to drugs, either directly or indirectly, must be prosecuted. Drug dealers are clearly sentenced to death,” he said.
The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has gathered a number of ministries related to narcotics, and it was explained that this Task Force is a special message from the President for the good of this country where one of the Asta Cita is about narcotics.
