Fuel Supply Remains Stable to Welcome Christmas and New Year Holidays
Jakarta – The government ensures that the supply of fuel oil (BBM) remains stable ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays. BBM is an important component to support people’s mobility during this momentum. Therefore, the government anticipates a shortage of BBM so that people can enjoy the Nataru holidays smoothly.
PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Subholding Refining and Petrochemical Dumai Refinery ensures operational readiness to guarantee energy supply in Indonesia to welcome the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays.
Area Manager Communication, Relations, and CSR PT KPI Refinery Dumai Agustiawan said the Dumai Refinery and Sungai Pakning Refinery have taken strategic steps to ensure energy availability.
“We have formed a Nataru Task Force to ensure that refinery operations run reliably without any obstacles, while maintaining safety aspects as the main priority,” said Agustiawan.
The data recorded that until early December 2024, the Dumai Refinery and Sungai Pakning Refinery had produced more than 34.26 million barrels of superior products such as aviation fuel, diesel, and MFO LS. At the Town Hall Meeting on December 4, 2024, the year-end performance showed that the Dumai Refinery exceeded its production target, reaching 99.25% of the 2024 RKAP.
Agustiawan said that the Nataru Task Force will be active from December 18, 2024 to January 15, 2025. The team consisting of management to section heads will carry out strategic tasks, such as routine patrols in work units, checking product stocks, and ensuring distribution infrastructure is in optimal condition. This effort is expected to support the smooth mobility of the community during Nataru, both those celebrating the holidays and the New Year with family.
Meanwhile, Member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Syafruddin, said that Pertamina has prepared several strategic steps to ensure the availability of Fuel Oil (BBM) and 2 kg LPG gas ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations.
Pertamina has prepared a number of gas stations that will operate up to 20 hours a day to anticipate the surge in demand during the year-end holidays. In addition, gas station pocket tanks will also be prepared to ensure stable supply.
“There are several gas stations that will operate for up to 20 hours and gas station pocket tanks will be prepared to anticipate the surge in demand,” said Syafruddin.
Regarding the scarcity of 2 kg LPG and Pertalite, Syafruddin emphasized the importance of proper distribution arrangements. According to him, local governments must be active in regulating distribution to avoid queues.
“We hope that local governments can play an active role in regulating distribution to avoid queues,” said Syafruddin.
With these steps, the government hopes that the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays can run smoothly, provide a sense of security for the community, and maintain conduciveness in various regions. [*]
