The confidentiality of the entire community’s data in the PeduliLindung application is guaranteed. The public is advised not to worry because the Covid-19 Task Force, the Ministry of Health and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs guarantee that there is no such thing as a human rights violation in the application.
Recently, there has been a lot of news regarding reports from the United States (US) Ministry of Foreign Affairs accusing that the PeduliLindung application from Indonesia is included in the category of human rights violations. Unfortunately, the US accusations are only based on an undisclosed Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) report, not from official Indonesian authorities.
With the spread of the news, the Covid-19 Handling Task Force immediately spoke up. As stated by Wiku Adisasmito as Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the main purpose of making the PeduliLindung application is merely to limit community activities so that they remain safe and avoid the Covid-19 pandemic since massive transmission occurred in the country. last year.
Of course these applications are able to help us to protect from the threat of exposure to viruses and also help maintain public health. Furthermore, Wiku emphasized one thing that the data from all people who have filled in the application will be kept confidential and only for the sole purpose of handling Covid-19, not for anything else.
The issue regarding the allegations from the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously been firmly denied by Siti Nadia Tarmizi as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). As he said, it is precisely with the innovation and breakthrough that the PeduliLindung application system owned by Indonesia has proven effective in suppressing the transmission of Covid-19 in the community.
In addition, when compared to other countries, even developed countries, the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia can be said to be very good, where one of the most contributing aspects in it is the PeduliLindung application. Then furthermore, he said that actually from the existence of this issue, it seemed that a number of individuals had deliberately twisted the narrative of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs report.
If we read and understand the entire original report made by the US State Department, it is clear that there are absolutely no accusations against Indonesia. On the contrary, according to Nadia, the US continues to highlight Indonesia because it is amazed by how we have handled the pandemic and the use of the PeduliLindung application. So at all in the report there are no words that state any violations.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD also stated that the PeduliLindung application from Indonesia was able to achieve a better handling of the Covid-19 pandemic than the United States itself. For him, the notion of protecting human rights is not only at the individual level, but also at the social-communal level.
The government itself has also stressed many times that public data will be safe and there will be absolutely no such thing as a violation of human rights in the form of privacy. In fact, all the data that we write in the application will greatly assist the Government’s efforts to accelerate the end of the pandemic so that we can immediately live normally as usual.
Facts on the ground prove that Indonesia has succeeded in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic to its fullest, including the massive use of the PeduliLindung application. The public is asked not to worry about the security of data at PeduliLindung, which is guaranteed by the Government.
