Prabowo-Gibran Government Ensures 2025 New Year Preparations Are Mature and Optimal
Jakarta – President Prabowo ensured the government’s readiness to maintain security, smoothness, and comfort for the public during the long holiday at the end of 2024.
“The President wants to ensure that all aspects, from security, transportation, to the availability of basic community needs, can run optimally during the Christmas and New Year holidays,” said the official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat.
President Prabowo emphasized the importance of cross-sector coordination to deal with the peak of mass movement and community activities which are predicted to occur on December 24, 2024 for the homecoming flow and January 2, 2025 for the return flow.
“I have coordinated and given instructions to the entire cabinet, to the vice president, and preparations for Christmas and New Year are complete. I think everything will go smoothly,” President Prabowo said.
In addition, the President also emphasized the importance of disaster mitigation and anticipation of extreme weather that could potentially occur during the Christmas and New Year period.
“Coordination between various parties and the dissemination of the latest weather information to the public must continue to be carried out,” he stressed.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, who previously led the Ministerial Coordination Meeting, explained that the government had discussed in detail various aspects, including land, sea, and air transportation, as well as optimizing infrastructure such as rest areas that are friendly to children and the elderly.
The discussion also covered the availability and accessibility of basic necessities and tourist destinations.
Pratikno said that all government agencies, both at the central and regional levels, will be coordinated to ensure everything runs smoothly.
“We discussed how the homecoming and return flow can run smoothly, safely, orderly, and comfortably, and worship can run safely, smoothly, and solemnly,” said Pratikno.
The Indonesian National Police are also preparing to carry out Operation Lilin 2024/2025 by establishing 2,794 posts throughout Indonesia, involving 141,443 joint personnel from the TNI and related agencies.
In addition, the Director General of Immigration, Saffar Muhammad Godam, ensured that immigration services would continue to run smoothly during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“In Bali and Lombok in particular, tourist areas that will certainly be increasingly crowded during the Christmas and New Year holidays, we have allocated special patrol vehicles for more optimal supervision,” said the Acting Director General of Immigration.
With the strategic steps prepared, President Prabowo is optimistic that the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations will run smoothly and comfortably for all Indonesian people. [*]
