President Prabowo Intensifies Drug Eradication for the Future of the Young Generation
Jakarta – Drugs not only damage the physical and mental of individuals, but also disrupt the social and economic stability of the country. Therefore, President Prabowo continues to strive to intensify the eradication of drugs for the future of the younger generation.
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the problem of drugs and online gambling is a serious threat to Indonesia’s young generation.
The statement was delivered after General Listyo had an audience with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti at the Rupatama Building, National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta. According to Listyo, the problem of drugs and online gambling is now increasingly worrying, especially because of its very detrimental impact on the younger generation.
“Of course, we discussed many things related to the threats to the younger generation, starting from the drug problem, related to the online gambling problem which is currently a concern,” said Listyo in a press statement at his office. The Chief of Police also emphasized the importance of more integrated preventive and mitigation measures in dealing with the two problems.
In addition to drugs and online gambling, Listyo also mentioned that student brawls are another form of threat that disrupts order and security among young people. Brawls between students that often occur in several regions, according to the Chief of Police, are an indicator of social problems that need to be addressed immediately. “Also problems of delinquency, brawls and so on, including how to educate regions that are remote areas such as Papua,” he explained.
The Chief of Police emphasized that the Police, together with related ministries and institutions, have an important role in educating students to avoid deviant behavior, as well as paying more attention to those in remote areas and prone to social problems. With solid cooperation between the Police and the Ministry of Education, it is hoped that a young generation can be created that is intelligent, healthy, and free from negative influences such as drugs and online gambling.
On that occasion, General Listyo also revealed that the Police and the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education had agreed to optimize cooperation in prevention and coaching efforts related to problems that could have a negative impact on public order and security (Kamtibmas).
“He (Minister of Primary and Secondary Education) gave a role and cooperation to the Police to be able to participate in coaching related to problems that have an impact on public order and security,” said Listyo.
With more massive preventive and educational measures, it is hoped that the young generation of Indonesia can be well prepared towards Golden Indonesia 2045, by avoiding threats that can damage their future.
